Lately, I've been asked, (a lot...lol) "how do I go about my process?" Well here it is... First: I I sketch out shapes that are in my head for an idea (in this case another Romulan ship). Now the shape in question in the one with the sphere-saucer combination: Direct Link: https://i.postimg.cc/Kjw8NVxS/Concept_Romulan_Starship_04.jpg Next I play with the shape to refine it: Direct Link: https://i.postimg.cc/gkpzYvjK/Concept_Romulan_Starship_05.jpg Now that I have a better idea of the concept, I start penciling and inking: Direct Link: https://i.postimg.cc/VvDVPQ5p/Concept_Romulan_Starship_06.jpg Next I finish the inking and erase all the pencil: Direct Link: https://i.postimg.cc/vHK0rvnr/Romulan_Jarok-_Class_Cruiser_00.jpg Then I could call it done right there (I like just line work a lot) or... I can add colour: Direct Link: https://i.postimg.cc/pVpc1THY/Romulan_Jarok-_Class_Cruiser_00a.jpg Lastly, (at least as of late) I have been adding a tad of the digital touch: Direct Link: https://i.postimg.cc/RhHRCWSk/The_Hunt_00.jpg In total, the whole process takes me about 3hrs from start to digitally-effect finish. The longest portion is the sketching phase, as that is the idea trying to come to light. I personally find the idea phase the most important, as I believe, that once the idea becomes a finished piece, then it loses the magic of the what I term the "infinite possibility". So my sketches are way more important to me then any finished drawing. Hope this helps!
That is a damn nice vessel.. also, no matter how well you explain it, I have a devastating lack of talent so no pretty ships from me.
lol doubt that it will hurt anyone...lol BTW: Masao, I had you in mind when I was first doodling this ship. I wanted a PreTOS feel to the shapes, so I opted a sphere with saucer design. I figured it would be a cool Romulan shape to try. Thanks mate! I too am found of the Jarok. Maybe I'll do some plan views of her... Oh, and don't worry about the whole talent thing, as art, real art, is not about talent, but rather it is an expression of one's self. Anyone can be and is, an artist... Just need to find the right canvas that suits you. Hey thanks! lol...it will never die...lol (Silly Admiral)
Maybe I got "artist" mixed up with "magician"? Yes, we're magicians who turn graphite into spaceships! Atolm: I noticed the resemblance. I'm a small guy with a very large head.
Ooooh this is awesome to see! Also offtopic: HI ATOLM IT"S REL! I realized the other site went down so I came to Trek BBS. How've you been bud?
