How I became more Vulcan

Many people are not capable of performing the split finger Vulcan greeting gesture by default. I seem to remember watching a Nimoy interview saying how lucky it was the major characters in TOS had the ability to perform it.

For whatever reason round about 1992 I decided to modify my fingers by separting them with a rubber band. Only a few hours treatment created the permament ability I enjoy to this day.

The thing I can't for the life of me remember is how this idea got into my head. No internet existed and there was only one other Trekie in my grade.


With the new movie coming out this might an opportunity to pass such techniques to anyone who wants to learn.

I always found it incredibly easy to do the Vulcan salute naturally. A lot of people find it hard.

perhaps those that can do it easily are more likely to be Trek fans....


...or is it the other way around? it would make for an interesting study, with the proper research grant
