How having Shatner in Trek XII can keep Kirk alive in Prime Universe

It's all about the Nexus. Somehow, the Nexus dumps Kirk off in the alternate universe. Kirk encounters the new crew in the same manner Spock Prime did in the last movie. Spock Prime left the younger Kirk and Spock a message for Kirk Prime if he ever made his was into the alternate universe. The message tells Kirk Prime he must return to the Nexus because he needs to help Picard stop Soran. However, he also warns Kirk Prime about his death and tells him how to cheat death once again. With the new information, Kirk Prime returns to the Nexus. Then we are left to wonder if Kirk Prime was able to save himself and lives on the 24 Century of the Prime Universe.

Nah. I liked Nimoy's bit in the new movie, but it's time to let the new cast carry on by themselves.

This relies too much on the specifics of a previous film to be workable. Besides I never thought the nexus was a good device once round never mind a second.
I also dont think tieing Kirk prime in enhances the legitimacy of the new universe much. I think probably most ppl who are not keen on the universe jump would have prefered it be totally seperate without Spock Prime, while those who like it want to see their heroes properly established without their alternates haunting their every move.

No it's time to let the new cast handle where they are going in the sequel let them be the heroes and not rely on old Trek actors.

No Shatner, no how. These films need to set their own trajectory, and establish their own characters to provide gravitas. Otherwise they risk pandering to nostalgia way too much.

Actually now that I think on it a bit, Shatner would not provide any gravitas anyway.

But the Nexus didn't do that. It dumped Kirk onto Veridian III, where he died.

Spock Prime left the younger Kirk and Spock a message for Kirk Prime if he ever made his was into the alternate universe. The message tells Kirk Prime he must return to the Nexus because he needs to help Picard stop Soran.

This makes no sense. Spock Prime knows that young Kirk and Spock are now in an alternate universe, one where the events of Star Trek: Generations will most likely not happen. So telling Young Kirk the future does nothing here, because it's not going to be Young Kirk's future.

However, he also warns Kirk Prime about his death and tells him how to cheat death once again. With the new information, Kirk Prime returns to the Nexus. Then we are left to wonder if Kirk Prime was able to save himself and lives on the 24 Century of the Prime Universe.

Again, the Nexus delivered Kirk to Veridian, not to the alternate universe. And we saw Kirk die. Period. Plus, there's no indication the Nexus had the power to send someone to another universe, just anywhere and anytime in the Prime universe.

Having Shatner cameo as Tiberius would be a fun thing, but I think that having ShatKirk come in the next film would be a horribly stupid idea that would only damage this reboot series. Nimoy was a good addition to XI, but it's time for the new crew to stand on their own.

Perhaps, but what's the point? There's no real reason to bring the old Kirk back to life. Especially since the movies are all about the new timeline now.

Well, thus far, all we have is your word that it makes sense, but until you have the energy to present to us a convincing argument/proposal as to why Shatner should come back, I remain unconvinced...
