So, have there been that many alterations from Classic Trek as a result of this latest movie?

If so, what are they? (I'm to lazy to check myself......)

Forgive the stupidity but do you want it in the Star Trek XI forum or the TOS forum?

I think this topic could belong here.

Easy answer...it hasn't changed classic Trek history at all. All your DVDs and videocassettes have remained unaltered.

It hasn't changed a damn thing, because it never had anything to do with Classic Trek history.

They started from one alternate universe, leap frogged back to another alternate universe and screwed up the timeline of that one. The never came near the timeline we know.

I keep telling myself that too.

It changed Trek history by resurrecting a dead franchise. :)

Other than that, my dvds appear to be the same.

Well, it hasn't changed my Trek history. I started out overwhelmed and ended up underwhelmed. End of history.

Amen.

...

This is the kind of thing that makes me worry that people don't realize the "Trek universe" is a fictional construct that doesn't actually exist.

My DVDs are still there on the shelf. JJ didn't come round to my house and confiscate them. All Trek from 66-2005 still exists.

What has that have to do with anything? You make it sound like "Oh my lord, these poor souls are divorced from reality."

Give me a break. Hello? We know it's fiction. But we re entitled to an opinion, aren't we? And if we don't like what has come along since TOS or TNG or whatever then we are entitled to have that view.

I like that explanation. It's the only one that makes any sense. Personally, I liked my TOS exactly the way it was and don't feel that it needed "rebooting". This NuTrek is a completely separate entity from TOS and it shall remain that way.
