How drunk are your holidays?

I don't know about you, but this time of year I always find myself drinking a whole lot more than usual. Christmas parties. New Years parties. Random get-togethers with old friends as we all make our way back to our hometown for a few days.

I plan to be exceptionally drunk for at least the next 3 consecutive weekends (starting with my friend's birthday tonight).

Usually I'd agree, but this year my best friend (and drinking buddy) is out of the country, and I'm on call for work a fair bit over the holiday season, plus being busy with a few other things... so I've partied less than usual and drunk correspondingly less. :(

Still, I'm on vacation for several weeks in January, so many cocktails will be drunk by the beach! :D

I don't drink much during the holidays at all. I'll probably have champagne on New Year's, but that's it.

I rarely drink, so not very. I might end up having a single glass of wine, but that's pretty unlikely.

Well I'm working Xmas Eve through to New Years Day so I'll have no time for Alcohol.

What I do intend on doing, however, is buying a few bottles of the finest champagne I can afford and having them with Xmas Supper (I'm working 6am-4pm, so no lunch for me), just me, the mother and a friend.

These days I simply can not be bothered to drink alcohol unless it's top notch stuff - and as I'm fairly broke, that usually means only a little bit of it. The deleterious affects of ethanol no longer interest me frankly, so it's all about the goute de terroir and provenance now.

Hugo - probably some Bollinger Grande Annee 2000

Well my family, except my parents, are drinkers so I always end up drinking quite a bit. I will, no doubt, get my fill of wine, beer and champagne over the next two weeks.

I honestly don't understand the appeal.
I don't either. The few times I've tried it I just felt dizzy and a bit uncoordinated. As far as taste is concerned I'd much preffer a nice cola (preferably Pepsi) with only ice in it.

I don't drink to get drunk. I drink because I love a nice glass of wine or cold beer. The drunk part comes from having to much, which is just a natural part of the holidays. If you could get drunk off of sugar cookies or my mom's amazing cranberry sauce or my grandmother's homemade yeast rolls, I would be. :bolian:

I drink regularly anyway, but the holidays definitely bring about a welcome diversity to my drinking habits. A lot more in the way of dessert liquors, egg nog, porters and stouts, bold wines-- even horseradish bloody maries with delicious Belgian waffles. "Exceptionally drunk" would be a rather extreme way of putting it... if I'm slurring my words even a little bit I've had more to drink that most people could handle (Italian-Irish tolerance).

I seldom drink in excess, and never around family members... so no drunkeness around the holidays.

This year won't be as "merry" as the others. And I'm actually pleased about that. I'm saving a fortune to spend on other things.
