How do you think a TV romance should be portrayed?

Alan and Denny from Boston Legal. :techman:

That was THE perfect TV romance---or bro-mance, if you like. The affection between them was far more believable, more moving and more fun than 95% of the TV "couples" today.

I rather like how Chuck/Sarah is working over on Chuck. I don't agree that Sarah is a bland character -- I think that the contrast between her history as a con man's daughter and her personal compassion, between the glimpses of her cold-blooded violence and her nurturing side, the way she's so familiar with using her sexuality to manipulate men but seems awful at actually holding down real relationships, are fascinating, if unusually subtle for a series that tends to paint its characters in broad strokes. And I think that the development has been fairly organic -- they were only beginning to really become conscious of their feelings for each other at the end of Season One, they felt like they needed to be separated in towards the beginning of Season Two, they became closer as S2 came to a close, and then Chuck's other issues relating to his own sense of professional direction combined with Sarah's own romantic insecurities, combined to drive them apart for a time. It will be interesting to see how they start to establish a relationship built on more than just sexual tension and working as spying partners.
