This is bugging me, how the frak do you pronouce "Robau" ?

Is it Roe-Bow?

Is it Rob-Ooo?

What is it!?!?

I wonder if Robau will take off so much that he will become Bobba Fettishized and get his own comics/t.v. series.

Your first one looks right. With the rolled 'R' -- say it like Ricardo Montalban would and you should be close.

Many have tried to pronounce it. Few have lived to complete the task. That is the power of Robau!

You mean it's not being produced yet? The heresy! :scream:

In order to pronounce it correctly, Robau would have to rip out your tongue...then kill you.

I always read it as Roh-bah-uh [roˈbaːʊ].

Can't anyone who has seen the film tell us how his name is pronounced?

Roh-bow (as in now). sorry no IPA here.

You correct. It's pronounced ROW (like row your boat) and BOW (like a dog's bow wow).

This is accurate because it is my last name and they named the character after someone in the same family tree.

:wtf:
Captain Robau was named after Roberto Orci's uncle, who was born in Cuba.

TrekMovie: Everything that has come out over the last month has answered a lot of questions, but also raised new ones. The first of which came up recently, related to Captain Robau, who was revealed on the new Intel site [boldlygo.intel.com]. Can you talk about who he is and what his background is, like his being from Cuba.
Roberto Orci: As you know, the [USS] Kelvin is named after, not only the same scientist with the temperature scale named after him, but also JJ’s grandfather. And the captain of that ship, Richard Robau, is named after my uncle, who was born in Cuba.
Interview in this TrekMovie article.

ConeyHOP seems to be saying that he's also a relative of the real Uncle Ricardo Robau, and has the same last name.
