Good heavens! I would never put a Magic Eraser in a mug

My mum's tried and tested technique - denture cleaning tablets. Works a treat.

So does baking soda...but now that I think about it, I wonder if denture tablets would work on my teapot? I can scrub it OK, but not in the spout, of course.

Why not a Magic Eraser in a mug? Have I missed a health warning or something? I don't do it because the sponges are kind of pricey.

It's just that Magic Eraser has some serious cleaning chemicals in it and I don't trust anything like that anywhere near anything I drink or eat off.


I do know that denture tablets left in a mug overnight remove even the darkest, oldest tea stains, so I expect they would work in your teapot too.

A friend ate at the Blue Elephant in Bangkok, and he couldn't wait to visit the Fulham restaurant. A lot of buzz about that place. Your ex-secretary must be so proud of her brother!

I wonder what a long island iced tea with real iced tea would taste like, instead of the usual coke? Probably not as mule kicking, the bubbles and sugar in the coke being the catalysts that make it go straight to your head!

I can't speak for other people, but I was drinking Earl Grey tea long before TNG premiered.

That was the first time I'd heard of earl grey. I was often curious to know what it tasted of. That was my motivation for first trying it. That led me to discover many other teas, but earl grey was my favourite of them all.

What a fantastic ad campaign for Earl Grey, doesn't get much better. I wonder if Paramount got anything...

I only slightly enjoyed ordinary black tea when I was in my early teens, but then I went completely off it in favour of carbonated drinks. It was only in my late teens that I tried earl grey. So to be fair, that restored my interest in tea as a whole.

^ a cultural twist, methinks. The author clearly sees the difference between drinking the Long Island Iced Tea and the consequences of doing so, in his own context. It's poetic and tragic at the same time, as he is clearly having to deprive himself of a certain pleasure in his day to day life.

On the other hand, not having the bloody things available is a lot more healthy!

As a Brit living in London, I always let someone else drive. Usually someone driving a train. I get home eventually.

The thought of creating a tea thread entered my mind, but after discovering this one and reading all of these fun responses, I decided to revive it.

As it is, Earl Gray tea has become - sheepishly I admit, because of Picard - a steady habit of mine; and as a matter of fact, I am drinking some right now.

I used to drink coffee; then at some point I discovered that I could conveniently make tea by the pot in my coffee maker, and so my coffee routine turned to green tea.

Per happenstance, one day when I was at the store getting more teabags, I noticed the Earl Gray and Captain Picard popped into my head; I decided to buy the Earl Gray packets and try them, and found the taste superior; it is now an important part of my daily routine.

^ Tea is a fantastically soothing routine, isn't it? Right now, I'm obsessed with Whittards of Chelsea loose black tea with vanilla. My routine has recently become tea and sandwichs in the afternoon when I get home, I really look forward to it.
