How do you like your tea?

^ Great!

I like my tea in clear glass for some reason, probably because that's how I used to have it as a kid... I was raised on black loose tea and sugar, used to wash down pancakes in the morning.

I do too. I built up a nice collection of novelty mugs throughout my childhood, most of which I still have and use. But I prefer clear glasses for my tea. I think it's because I have it black, and when it's in a mug I can't see it properly.

And since most insides of mugs are white - I dislike the dark residue left behind as you drink, not very appetising.

I pride myself on my mug's tea stains. I could bleach them, but I don't want to. That's 15 years of tea drinking history right there.

JustHelois's Helpful Household Hint: Use baking soda - just sprinkle it on and scrub as though it were a powdered cleanser. It takes out tea stains (maybe coffee stains, too, but I don't know) just like that. Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work great, too, but baking soda's a lot cheaper.

Good heavens! I would never put a Magic Eraser in a mug

My mum's tried and tested technique - denture cleaning tablets. Works a treat. :techman:

But I want my tea stains. :D

A powerful dishwasher will soon take care of that. Unless you are the designated powerful dishwasher... :p

I am the designated powerful dishwasher. We have a dishwasher, but I am far, far superior to that infernal machine.

I do clean the mug, just in case anyone is wondering, but I don't make efforts to bleach out or baking soda-ize the stains because I don't mind them. It gives my mug a little class. :D

I, of course, would not do that for a glass mug, but a ceramic one is a little different for me.

So does baking soda...but now that I think about it, I wonder if denture tablets would work on my teapot? I can scrub it OK, but not in the spout, of course.

Why not a Magic Eraser in a mug? Have I missed a health warning or something? I don't do it because the sponges are kind of pricey.

I like hot, sweetened, Earl Grey on occasion but the tea I drink most is sweetened iced tea. I make it about every other day or so with my Mr. Coffee Iced Tea pot!

:)

If Earl Grey wasn't the drink of choice of Old Baldy, what it still be as popular around here?

Someone asked be something similar once when he found out I was a Trekkie (through seeing my license plate which he said you'd have to be as big a geek as I was to "get" it) he asked me if I drank Earl Grey tea and if I did, did I start doing it because of Picard.

I said yes and yes.

Indeed.

That was the first time I'd heard of earl grey. I was often curious to know what it tasted of. That was my motivation for first trying it. That led me to discover many other teas, but earl grey was my favourite of them all. :)

Not me. I had it before TNG started and it was love at first sip.

But even if somebody had it first because of Picard...well, nothing wrong with that. Maybe he even got a few Trekkies to try Shakespeare.

What a fantastic ad campaign for Earl Grey, doesn't get much better. I wonder if Paramount got anything...

Dr. Horrible, were you thinking of this?

Looks the business. :D

Ooooh - that looks pretty good. Up for it? I think I'm free that weekend.

I like this bit in the review:

Last year's headliner for the Thai Food Festival was renowned London restaurant Blue Elephant.
The brother of a former secretary of mine runs that place. Supposed to be very, very good.

Back on topic - tea. Long Island Iced Tea is a particular favourite of mine, although I usually lose all sensation after 3 or 4 of them...

TNG, I will admit, was also my introduction to Earl Grey. However, I've only ever had it once or twice. Call me a Luddite, but I still like the good old tea-bagged tea. Black, in any form of receptacle that could take it, no milk or sugar. :bolian:

However, my parents have also been into Ceylon tea.
