How Do You Feel About The Big Bang Theroy(The Show)

Ditto - I'll be geeking out on Gotham and Castle. We'll watch BBT tomorrow over dinner.

I like it, it's not the best sitcom in the world but good enough.

The one thing that I don't really like is the fact that every time a woman walks into the comic store the guys act like they've never seen one before there. In reality every comic book store I ever went to was flooded with women.

My daughter tells me that maybe ten years ago it was like that at our local comic book store (although the owner was NEVER rude to women. I've heard horror stories) but now its no big deal.

The show likes to play up the stereotype that men who read comics have little to no contact with the opposite sex.

I watched the new episode last night. I don't think it even made me chuckle once. It was better than the show after it, "Life in Pieces" though.

The episodes I've seen have been very funny, but I generally steer clear of shows that have a laugh track.

I still watch it but the earlier seasons were better. I don't even notice laugh tracks anymore. I guess that I just tune them out.

Love it. It could do without the laugh track though.

Big Bang DOES NOT have a laugh track. Never has. There is a live audience that attends tapings every Tuesday during production (except on Labor Day week, when they tape on Wednesday). There is a waiting list for tickets.

And by the way, they don't make fun of geeks/nerds. They do poke fun at some of the things geeks/nerds do, but hey, some stuff we do is very pokeable.

Stuart maybe a loser but they made him look super creepy! I didn't like that because he hasn't behaved to that extreme unless I am blocking it out.

Stewart is the quintessential loser stereotype but the delivery of the actor is still hilarious.

The season premiere was a little downbeat i have to say, i hope it's not a portent for the future. A little relationship drama is ok once in a while but this better not turn out too much into a soap.

I enjoyed it, but it was a bit of a downer with two of the big relationships running into issues. I know Stuart has always been somewhat creepy, but I thought they did overdo it a bit here.

He was actually pretty suave in the first season, when he met Penny at least. Then the next few seasons the writers turned him into a depressing loser. It's sad.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I guess since they can't have Howard as the pervy guy they decided to transfer all of that over to Stuart.

So the studio audience is actually there, live, when they shoot? Meaning, they don't do the filming then show it to the audience later?

That would help.

Yes, they are there. Only some scenes (like outdoor/location scenes) are pre recorded and played for the audience, in sequence, like a play. They don't film all the scenes in one set then the next set. The audience sees the episode acted out as we will see it. The audience is there about 5 hours and get lunch. They're there for set decoration, makeup touch ups and everything.

Has BBT ever tried to do an ep without a laugh tr...audience? ;)

I've seen clips without laughs but IIRC it was one where the laughs were edited out, not one when they were never there. So it sounded kind of awkward with the characters reacting to "nothing."

I like how The Red Green Show makes the audience an actual part of the show...lends extra verisimilitude to the whole thing.

All this talk of laugh tracks and studio audiences reminds me of a historical tidbit that I ran across while browing Wiki, about how The Dick Van Dyke Show was only filmed three times without a studio audience...twice for production-related reasons specific to those episodes, and once because the episode was being filmed a few days after Kennedy's assassination.

I have a lot of friends, both work (engineers, like myself) and personal, who love the show.

I've seen a bunch of episodes and I just don't care for it.
