How do you feel about 4am?

I wake up at 4AM a lot. I have no idea why. My ass doesn't have to be up until 7. Ugh!

But it's nice to wake up, check my clock, and realize I still have 3 more hours of sleep. :)
Same here. Knowing you can sleep for a few more hours is always a cool feeling.

If I'm up at 4am, something unusual is going on. It is occasionally fun though.

Just over a week ago, I got up at 2am (after 4 hours of sleep) for a 6am flight. Probably could have safely pushed it to 3am, but I don't take chances on these things anymore.

For me 4am sucks, it means that I just screwed myself out of 15 more minutes of sleep. If I do go back to sleep, I will tend to over sleep.

4 a.m. is happy hour for me. I go to bed usually around 6 or 7 a.m. (and sometimes go as late as 12:00 p.m. and sleep the entire afternoon away). I'm way more awake in the middle of the night than during the day, even when I was forced to keep normal hours. If I ever did get a job, I'd specifically want night shift. It's just so much more comfortable for my body and I function better at night. I'm truly nocturnal.

My eyes are extremely sensitive to light, which explains why I keep blinds closed, lights off, the background on my computer is black and I probably could pass for being an albino if I dyed my hair and wore contacts--I'm really that pale. I've even been known to wear sunglasses in places that have strong florescent lighting (the few hated times I've ventured into malls, for example). I can't tolerate white or blue florescent lighting for long. Soft, low, filtered yellow lighting (or candlelight) is much more comfortable for my eyes. I have excellent night vision, too. My pupils get huge.

Ah, I love being a lazy slacker nerd with no schedule whatsoever.

I'm also one of those who typically considers 4 AM kind of a transition hour. That's usually the point where I start trying to get myself ready to sleep (I usually go to bed between 5-6 AM). I doubt I'm going to see 4 AM tonight, however. Had to get up early for work today and hadn't slept too well the last couple days before then, either.

I've been going to bed at around 4 a.m. for the past little while now. It's a little weird... I've really got nothing to do at that time except post on here. ;)

I need to get back into a more appropriate cycle. I suppose actually getting a job might help with that... unless it's a night job, of course. Eh, we'll find out when it happens...

Well being an insomniac I'm usually up at four am however since I've been staying at my parents while trying to find a new place I've been in bed during the week before four. They tend to wake me up before ten in the morning. If I was on my own I'd be going to bed around six or seven like I normally do (after listening to Coast to Coast and Mike and Mike in the Morning).

I would hate to be awake at 4am. My body's internal clock tells me that it wants to sleep between 1am-9am. My job tells me that it should be more like 11:30pm-7:30am. More often then not, I end up sleeping from around 1:00am-7:30am, which really isn't enough for me. I thought of being awake at 4am is baffling.

^ Yep, same here, the only exception these days might be Friday or Saturday night if we're getting on the chop. The rest of the week I'll be fast asleep by then, having a job that starts at 7.30 am will do that to you.

4AM I am sleeping unless it's one of those rare nights of drinking/partying where things are still rolling. I've never been up at 4AM on a work-night.

In college, 4AM happened ALL the time b/c my first class was 11AM on M-W and 2:00PM on T-F. As a result I would do a lot of studying from around 7PM-12PM and would use the rest of the time to hang out w/ friends and calm down... those were the days.

Time of day is meaningless to me. My sleep schedule is very erratic and unpredictable. I'm just as likely to be awake at 4am as I am to be asleep.

When I have no real demands on my time, I sleep anywhere between 4-14 hours and then I'm awake for 8-30 hours with no real pattern. One time I fell into a perfect four hours of sleep eight hours awake cycle for a week, which was weird. Seriously, every time I woke up that week my clock said 12:15.

Pissed off if I'm still awake. I try to go to bed around 9:30 to 10:30 every day, then wake up at 7:00 in the morning and start the two hours & 15 minutes of exercise.

4 am is aiiight with me. 4am is when da birds start to wake...4-5 is an exhilerating time in the moring. See things you normally don't...hear things you normally won't.

So get your ass outta bed once in awhile and see the splendor of 4am.

Been there, done that, didn't get a T-shirt.

2hrs and 15 mins of excercise huh? And not one minute more.

You must be pretty *gulp* in shape....I'd like to see what that looks like. :shifty:

I think that's one of my issues with 4am. Hearing the birds wake up reminds me of long nights spent awake in India with jet lag. When I heard the birds starting to awaken there, it usually meant that I had actually been up the entire night and still had a few hours to go before everyone else awoke.

If I hear it here, it's also depressing because that means I've been up all night with work and I'm not likely to get any sleep before going back to work that next day. So four AM ... not the best time in the world.

Wake up at 7:00, five minutes later I am out of bed (or ten minutes ;-), go to the bathroom, take a multi vitamin, a Green Tea pill, and an Orange Dream Bar (ice cream) and take a pack of pop tarts with me, then do 15 minutes (that's the average time it takes to complete) of weight lifting, then I get on a stationary exercise bike and do two straight hours. I eat Orange Dream bars all day, have french bread (with butter, Adobo spice and parmesan cheese), and at the end of the week -- haven't gained a pound. Life is good. ;-)

Oh, I'm very handsome (not just saying that to impress the internet horde), and now I have muscles. Before weight lifting, I didn't really have muscles. As a TrekBBS member used to have in his sig (I forget the exact words): Now 10% more manly :D
