How do you deal with unreasonable neighbours?

This is going to sound dreadful, but life's a bit easier for us now that our elderly neighbour has died. We have a shared driveway and he would use the driveway to access his garage. No problem, of course, except that he complained when our kids rode their bikes on the driveway. In fact, he once came out of his back door (which opens on to the driveway) and said this to my autistic, speech-impaired, not-a-scrap-of-road-sense son, which scared the hell out of my poor kid. I didn't say anything because it wouldn't have solved anything (he was the neighbourhood grump, always complaining to someone about something) but my older son took a piece of chalk and drew a line all the way down the driveway, as if to say, "That's our half and there's yours. Fit your car in that space, git!" Husband and I laughed ourselves silly over that.

The thing is, his wife is lovely, and would go around apologising to people if Mr. Git had gone too far and been too offensive. She's been widowed for 2 years now and she's the best neighbour we could have. It makes us wonder whether her life with her husband had been at all happy.

It's not dreadfull at all.
We all have to live with people like that. But a little bit more appreciation would have been considerate! Well a lot more!

I found out who ratted on me and who spoke to the housing people and found it was a young girl who I'd 'mentored' in the last 7 yrs she's been here. (She's 24 and I was the one that rescued her from being beaten by a boyfriend and called the police etc...)
So much for fucking female solidalitly!
After my meeting tonight I've decided to sleep on it!

ETA I'm listening to War of Worlds and I really want to crank it up, but it's not my immediate neighbours that need to be punished. I am at a quandry...

Do you live nearby?

Jeff Waynes?

Excellent taste in music if I do say so myself...:techman:

K'Eh has decided that her Klingon tendancies have come to the fore and is therefore going to stay up all night playing Pavarotti.
Once she gets bored of that she's going for War of the Worlds and stomp up and down stairs with her new £1.04 heels from Ebay!

I think either they or me need to move ~ I'm not in negotiating mood right now, and I've just planted flowers! :klingon:

Sorrry to double quote, but thank you :)

I have two favourites ~'Forever Autumn' and 'The spirit of the Man'

David Essex and Julie Covington?! What's not to love?
And narrated by The Richard Burton
Ok I should give Jeff Wayne credit for a wonderful arrrangement!
And my personal love ~ Phil Lynott (of Thin Lizzzy fame)
I saw him live! And still love the memory

I listen to JW's WotW every Halloween, ever since the '70s. One of the very few 'traditions' I actually have. There's tons of videos on youtube of it, btw.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOlllllllaaaaa!!!!!

Why Halloween?
And I do get the reference.
And I'm wondering why I'm still up at halve past 3 in the god damn morning waiting for my son to come home and having lost $20,000 on poker and have a bloody cat still staring at me! And I'm cross that I have to wear my reading glasses to do this now! That's it ~ I'm going to chuck the cat out, not bother about son and go to blooming bed!
Sod them ~ sod them all!
Night folks. x

A radio station here Q104 used to play it every Halloween, they stopped when they changed format, but I just played it myself. Of course, I've listened to it plenty of times other than Halloween. :)

asshole neighbors shooting bottle rockets off tonight, having some big party, I show up all wild-eyed and twitchy, bottle rockets stop

Sorry going a little OT when you complain about a neighbour is the complaint suppose to stay a secret?
I know in your case its no big deal but I was just wondering for the people who have to live next door to the asbo family's.
