Spoilers How did you feel when you first watched the end of Star Trek II?

I was 16, saw it on opening day, and remember that night remarkably well. Still have the movie promo booklet I bought that night. I wasn't too upset; I knew even at that age that all the talk at the time about "taking Star Trek in a new direction" on the part of Harve Bennett, etc. was all BS and that Spock would be back in the next movie.

I recall being much more bummed out when the Enterprise was destroyed in Star Trek III.
Well after those long and nice episodes with that fine ship, it was pretty sad, but sometimes I felt it was a funny reaction from those Klingons who did not even find out for themselves what the countdown was.

I'm also one of the people who saw the later movies first. I wasn't even three when TWOK was released. But when I did see the movie, Spock's death made for a powerful, powerful scene, even knowing what happened next. It never loses any of its impact, no matter how many times I've seen it. These have to be some of Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner's best performances. When you're watching it, you're totally in the moment.

When I first saw it in 1982, I was, of course, pretty sad for Spock but was interested in the new characters they had brought in. In those days, we thought there was plenty more TOS to come so I was actually excited to see what came next.
Thought it was a cop out when Spock came back in THE VERY NEXT FILM.

I agree completely. I was simply thrilled that we had finally gotten a rousing Trek adventure after waiting 13 years since the series ended. I too, assumed that that Trek was going to continue to add new characters and the old cast would retire and the movies would go on. I was disappointed that Trek 3 was just a quickie sequel to reverse all the elements of Trek 2.

Extremely disappointed :censored: , until I discovered SFS was being made. Now WOK and SFS are a must watch together.

I was confused. I’d seen 4 first. Although I had a dim memory of Star Trek 3, and I was peripherally aware Spock was dead, and that his room was haunted. False memory, but I can see how it formed. I was probably eight.

I loved it then. I love it now.

It wasn't certain he was coming back. Though at the time I remember even before the movie came out there were rumours they were going to bring him back in the next movie.

Best death scene in Star Trek.
