How did Sutek and the Ice Warriors C0-Habitate?

Guy Gardener

I'm assuming that the Ice Warriors were primordial when the Ossirans built Suteks prison on Mars... Maybe they thought the Pyramid was an artifact of the Gods and if they actually got inside, depending on their social development they could have "talked" about any number of subjects while the ancient god of evil was immobilized on his thrown.

And the Ambassadors of Death? How did they fit in?

it's not like they had a galactic Empire, unless they left earth as a wildlife reserve if they had some sort of federation (yes they joined the federation eventually.) respect for nacent cultures... Were the Silurians space faring? But I could see Sutek throwing factions and countries and continents at each other for fun? But would he be driving them overtly of covertly?

You know, I was thinking about this last night when I watched Pyramids.

1. The Ice Warriors may live only at the polar icecaps, the Pyramid may be elsewhere, ergo, they may not have known about it.

2. We've never seen Ice Warriors from the early 1900's. We've only seen them in the future. They may have never explored the surface of Mars enough to know of the Pyramid.

3. They may have known of the Pyramid but be unable to penetrate its outer defenses, if it had any.

I got the impression that Sutek's cage had been there for millions of years since even a Timelord referred to their era as mythic... meanwhile society on Mars itself was dying out well enough in the not too distant future, that any vibrancy and expanse about there industrial superstructure and population base had dwindled to... Just finished listing to an Audio story called Phobos about more bad stuff happening on mars and yet another audio adventure focusing on the Ice Warriors called red dawn spoke of a migrational exodus. They left intact as a species and set up shop elsewhere.

Stuff happens.

Sutekh was on earth not Mars, the power source that held him came from the pyramids of mars but he wasn't there himself.

Oh, damn, you're right.

And I've been thinking recently that I needed to see Pyramids of Mars again. This proves it.

Can we fall more in love with Elizabeth Sladen? Is it possible?

So, a power broadcasting system to keep a far away target static. Sounds like Caretakers array and the Ocampa from Voyagers pilot. weird.

The Virgin book GodEngine explores the Osiran influence on Martian culture quite extensively (while also providing a slightly more sensible reason why the Daleks were trying to remove the Earth's magnetic core).

The Ambassadors were only visiting Mars, and happened to be there when the first lot of Mars Probe astronauts arrived. As to why none of them encoutnered the Ice Warriors - well, they must be bashful (after all, they've left Viking and the recent rovers alone...).

The ambassadors and the Sytorak just "visit" mars for no good reason? Was it once the Martian equivalent of Disney planet or the Martian equivalent of Risa? maybe that's why everyone keeps trying to invade earth? They arrive in Mars orbit expecting to get laid, and they're cockblocked by extinction, environmental upheaval and exodus.

No wonder they're in such a killing mood when they get to earth.

Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin just visited the Moon for 'no reason' ;) Why shouldn't the the Ambassadors just be exploring in the same fashion? (As to why Mars but not Earth, maybe Mars is more hospitable to them than Earth. Anything goes given that they live off this weird form of contagious radiation...)

Time to repost my fantasy Ice Warriors story idea:

Setting: the very near future.

Earth sends it's first manned mission to Mars...and boy are the residents unhappy!

I'd make it a 3 part story over the whole season, starting with the first 2 parter and ending with the finale. Think Martian Chronicles but with a twist.

In the opening teaser, before the first mission arrives, a probe lands on Mars. Mission Control loses contact with it, and nobody can explain why...the landing was "perfect." Cut to Mars surface...we see the rover, or rather, what's left of it. As the shot pulls away, we see an Ice Warrior and an Ice Lord standing together "Their invasssssion hassss begun!"...Cut to opening credits...
