How did Kirk's glasses not get even more damaged in fight with Krug?

I was thinking of something. If Kirk had his glasses to sale in "VoyageHome" then doesn't that mean he must have had them on him when he beamed down to the Geness planet? They had a pretty intense fight, so I asume the glasses were in his jacket or something but when he tries to sale them the only damage is the crack from "Wrath of Khan."

He left his jacket with Spock, the glasses could have been in a pocket there.

They actually cut a scene in TSFS where Kirk was using the glasses to see the engine room flight recorder. The glasses had been repaired and were intact. I think Shatner maybe said, "enough already with the Kirk

There is a great full-page still of kirk holding the glasses in the TSFS movie mag they sold in the theater in 1984.
When they revisited the glasses in TVH they dropped the idea that the glasses had been fixed.

Perhaps they fixed after TWOK and then were re-damaged in the fight with Kruge !!

Boy they really didn't worry too much about spoilers in 1984 did they?
This is the movie mag they sold in the lobby during the first-run. A brand-new picture of spock with a never before worn outfit. "Gee i wonder if they find Spock" sees magazine cover "Oh crap."
