How come humans are a leading power?

It was actually Jason Isaacs himself who made the decision to speak with an American accent as Lorca.

I know that. But why did Latif speak with the bland North American accent and not his British one? Why did they make him from Seattle?

I'm not convinced it's even possible to be "genetically" more intelligent.

Play chess with a lobster.

Which, of course, is an attitude shared by more Star Trek shows than just Disco. It's just not an attitude shared by my favorite Star Trek shows.

I think the most glaring example of that was the Xindi, a species that solves the problem by making component members of the species that are all oversimplifying extremes, except for the most human-like ones who of course happen to be the most reasonable.

The best job I think trek has done so far with an alien species might be Ferengi. They are fundamentally different from humans on many levels, not worse than them in anything important. I would almost include Bajorans but the writers tended to wimp out and make them accordion-nose humans all too often. Maybe Founders, but we only ever really know two founders particularly well and another one briefly.

No one likes Seattle.

I do...Seattle is one of my favorite cities to vacation in.

And the grasshoppers are delicious.

To split hairs like (mirror) Lorca, Tyler was actually from a smaller city 24 kilometres outside of Seattle.
Perhaps small-town boredom leads to villainy? :shifty:

You get the impression the only thing making the Founders feel they need to control solids is a history of abuse at the hands of solids. Odo has no such history.

DS9 did a great job making Ferengi three dimensional but I felt they reversed a lot of the Klingons three dimensionality from TNG.
