How can I get rid of my Star Trek VHS tapes?

I still watch my VHS tapes...some are recorded from original transmission, so the adverts give an odd cultural context. And the TV upscales even from SCART rather nicely.

Then theres the 30th anniversary special, and the making ofs, and the extended TMP cut....not to mention the special leaflet thing on the first release of emissary.

Me and the little one watch them as much as the DVDs. I just wish I still had the child friendly edits from TV for the little man to watch.

On a related note...i had some x files still sealed, and some of the early doctor who releases were on such high quality, you would barely notice the difference between them and the tv transmissions currently airing even on HD channels. They are isually better.

They are certainly better than some of the internet streams (legit ones) and it feels nicer (vinyl warmth of sound arguments go here)

Keep anything rare like that TMP one, and the rest... honestly? It's a dead format. You're not going to get a red cent out of them. :S Maybe, maybe if you donate them you could somehow get a tax deduction?

I've got this same issue. I'll be addressing it soon. Most of them are going in the trash. I'll keep a handful for sentimental reasons, but beyond that... there really is no point. :S

I have a collection of Star Trek VHS tapes that includes every TOS episode, around 70 TNG episodes and 7 movies. I've put them up on eBay, but no one seems to be interested. Should I sell them to Cash Converters? How else can I get rid of them?

Buy a conversion device and import them to the computer, and then burn them to DVD, if you want. Or buy a DVD recorder and convert them to DVD via dubbing.:);)
