How big was the Borg ship Model?

Chick_McGeester

Lieutenant
Can anyone tell me how big the Borg ship model was for BOBW? I am thinking about trying to build my own model using "model trees" and want to get the scale right. Was there even a full sized model done? If anyone has any links with info or pics of it in the process of being built or even in a regular room so I can see what it should look like in a person that would be nice...

I believe the model was about three feet. One side had a big hole in it for the cables to go into to light it.

According to Memory Alpha, there was a 2' model, which was built & blown up for BOBW-II and they built a better looking, yet much smaller model for FC.

That, in addition to the original 3 footer.

I assumed they built a separate section for the doors. In fact, weren't they the Dyson Sphere doors redressed?

Im mostly thinking about the BOBW version. Personally I think its the best version and really dont like the look of the First Contact cube.

I was talking about the BoBW Cube as well. i have a photo of it somewhere. One side of the Cube only had the edges done, leaving a big hole for all the electronic cabling.

^That one must have had two holes.

Are there any good videos showing the construction or just showing the cube in the workshop? Just wondering cause I cant find any...

I had found a pic a while back by doing a Google image search 'Best of Both Worlds Borg model' or shooting model, don't remember which, but I did see a pic. Don't have time to look it up right now, but you can try it.

here just scroll down to the very bottom. my estimate, 3 feet, was correct, and I was just eyeballing it.

The model was essentially scratch-built, constructed out of miscellaneous bits and pieces lying around, most notably model kit spruces (the bits left over after the kits parts have been cut out of their retaining pieces) applied in multiple layers and lit from within. The three-foot model was used in "Q Who", both episodes of "The Best of Both Worlds", and "Emissary". For "Q Who", an enlarged section of a side was built to show the self-regenerating capacities of the cube. Out of frame a blowtorch was applied to the partial model and the footage shot was inserted in reverse in the final film. Almost discarded after use, Dan Curry saved the partial model

FYI: using scrap parts is how the original Galactica was built as well
