How are you Celebrating Discovery's Launch Tonight?

With all the talk about Discovery and the hype surrounding the series, what are you all going to do tonight to celebrate the return of Star Trek on the air. Do you have any parties planned? Are you just going to be alone watching? Is this going to be a family occasion?

Earlier this summer, I decided to purchase an Apple TV as a Birthday Gift and there was two reasons why: Sports (NHL and MLB) and Star Trek Discovery. Tonight I'm inviting a friend over, we're ordering a Pizza and about Quarter to 7 San Francisco time, the Apple TV will go on for the first episode. In a way, this is my version of a Super Bowl party and I'm excited.

For myself, I plan on being stoned as hell.

If you don't mind me asking, has being stoned changed your perspective on a series or episode? Basically have you seen an episode straight laced, probably didn't like it but watched it again stoned and thought it was the best thing ever, or vice-versa?

Been re-watching all the series premiere episodes today. And tonight celebrating quietly, with good beer, some Surf & Turf and a nice 4K TV.

It helps if I like it, but it makes no difference if I don't like it. Watching old Godzilla and other 50's monster movies is definitely enhanced as I'm predisposed to like those anyway.

Camping out in front of the TV with the wife, the dog, dinner and a nice glass of scotch. (Assuming I get home from the theatre this evening in time. Yay, matinees/archive photo day!)

Going over to a friend's house to see both episodes on CBSAA (a viewing party as a number of friends will be there. She told us she subbed to CBSAA because she's a big CSI fan; so if we wanted to come over on Sundays as a group to see ST: D she was more than willing so a number of me and our mutual friends took her up on the offer.

If it wasn't for the fact that it seems CBSAA is capped at 720P resolution and is just streaming two channel stereo; and this works out (it's also fun to just get together on a regular basis with friends form something we all are (atm) interested in; I'll wait for the Blu-Ray release.

If CBSAA wants my subscription, they need to improve their back-end to allow for people to use their full 'Entertainment setup (and at least steam it in 1080P and minimum Dolby 5.1 digital audio.)

ETA:
Oh, and when I get home, I'll at least re-watch the first hour on my system from the DVR - and if I like the series - save that one until the Blu-Rays release in a year or two . ;)

Have a 4 pack of my favorite brew and a couple of good friends over. Hoping for a great start! The first new trek in a while should be celebrated!

I still think CBS needs to put more of thier library on the service. I mean for CSI they only have seasons 1, 2 and 15. Where is the rest of what was thier top rated show in the 2000s. Also they should partner with Warner yo get the CW on the service and provide full seasons of those shows. If it’s the young people who are cutting the cord, wouldn’t it make sense to target that demographic that is watching all the superhero shows and the like?

Also agreed on the quality. I’m surprised they didn’t upgrade it because of today.

Went from watching all the premieres on my laptop to that + watching varied Trek movies on my TV at the same time, all day long. :D

A bag of microwave popcorn.

Hey, it's Orville Redenbacher's Movie Style Butter!

Being Dutch, it means we're watching it on monday. This also means that we won't be making a huge fest out of it. We only eat snacks on the weekend. And we usually eat dinner at the the dining table. However, mondays is soupnight, and we like to take warm bowls of soup to the tv and chill. That is a great way to enjoy Star Trek; on the couch, with a lovely hot bowl of soup and each other's company while enjoying one of our favorite fandoms.

Originally planned to catch it on CraveTV when they make it available on Monday, but I caved and subscribed to Space so that I can watch it live every week. So tonight it’s ice cold brews, and hoping my kids will be fast asleep, leaving me with an uninterrupted viewing.

I don't work tonight so I'll be able to watch live on CBS, with my mom, although she really has no interest based on the previews, but since I'm watching it she will too.
All week I'd been watching one or two episode of each series on Netflix (except TAS, I consider that part of TOS), and today I watched one episode of each (TOS: Gamesters of Tiskelion, TNG: The Enemy, DS9: Change of Heart, VOY: Nothing Human, ENT: Fight or Flight). The DS9, VOY and ENT episodes were the next episodes in rewatches I've already been working on, and TOS and TNG were just random episodes that caught my eye. I'm also wearing a Starfleet Academy shirt I got earlier this month.
