Here's a concept:
Star Trek: Exodus
After the alpha quandrant undergoes a major galactic cataclysm (not a war or invasion; either something natural -- or some kind of man-made accidental cataclysm), the Federation and Starfleet (along with other alien allies and former enemies) are forced to look for new homes in space for it's citizens. A charismatic leader who has the unanimous support of many Federation and non-Federation planets, leads the gigantic fleet of humans and aliens on it's epoch journey -- however, all is not as it seems.
New habitable planets are located in another galaxy and the new series is about what and who they encounter on their way to the new planets. It's about discovering strange, new worlds...friendly and hostile forces; inner fleet strife, having to work together to get to the new planets and the undercurrent of mystery and intrigue surrounding the charismatic Federation leader and his core of followers.
That's just the "rough draft" version of the concept...
