House of Duras series?

EJA

Fleet Captain
Would anyone else here like to see IDW do a miniseries centred around the Klingon House of Duras, examining such well known members as Duras (son of Ja'rod), Toral, Lursa and B'Etor? I've always found the Duras family interesting as villains, and frankly I don't think they get enough attention. If they ever did do such a story I think they should get the guys who did Klingons: Blood Will Tell to write it.

I think what I'd like to see more is something where the House of Duras are not the villains. They are (or were, depending on timeframe) a wealthy, powerful, and politically active House within the Empire, so it's not uncalled for for them to show up as antagonists from time to time, but if they were villains all the time they would have been defeated long ago.

Excellent idea. IDW has done a great job so far and I, for one, would love to see this tackled. Perhaps showing us the House of Duras as an honourable family, to seeing what the transgressions were against them, and finally how they ended up as that lovable family they became.

I wouldn't mind seeing some type of multigenerational House of Duras series. So far I don't think the House of Duras has been in any TOS works, and I'm curious to see what happened to Toral, after DS9, and Bator's (?) child.

I don't know it would really need to be another series, but a book or miniseries dealing with the House of Duras could be cool.

"Honorable" isn't necessary. Just not being seen as dishonorable. It's tough to be "clean" in big-league politics, but having the reputation of "not dirty" is much more doable, especially in a rough environment like the Empire.

A Duras appeared in at least one of Kevin Ryan's recent TOS Klingon trilogies.
A Councillor Duras appears there and is mentioned in the Vanguard series.

Why's that? Power does not always reward virtue and punish vice.

I've got no problem with the idea of the House of Duras having honorable members, too. But the idea that they would necessarily be defeated if they were villainous seems unrealistic to me. There are plenty of corrupt, powerful families that stayed in positions of power for centuries in real life.

Have we seen or heard of the House of Duras at all after Generations?

There was also a Marvel story involving Worf protecting Lursa's son from assassins.

Yeah, I remember that one, but the story botched it by saying it was B'Etor's child, rather than Lursa's. Also the kid was still an infant, and the story was set a few years into Worf's tenure on DS9, during the Dominion War.

Ok, I've just heard that Lursa's grown-up son will be appearing in the Star Trek: Online game; his name is apparently Ja'rod. I have to agree with some other posters here in that there should be some members of the Duras clan who aren't so bad.

Toral appeared in the DS9 episode "The Sword of Kahless" and in the computer game Star Trek: Armada.
Oh, duh. For some reason I was thinking SoK took place before Generations, but it's DS9 with Worf so obviously it had to be after. I even own it as part of the Klingon Fan Collective. :brickwall:
