Right, it's been over ten months since last season's finale. The season premiere came after House had served eight months in prison, and the second episode was two months after that.

I am glad that Thirteen has moved on with her life and I hope she never comes back because if she does, she'll just become miserable again which is why House decides to fire her before she can fully come back to work again.

I am glad that things haven't gone back to normal yet. That's the way it should be after House's time in prison.

In the House world nearly 3 years have passed since Foreman and 13 were an item. A "year" has passed between this new season and the end of the last, a year passed between when House picks up Thirteen from out of prison and her leaving the hospital at the end of Season 6/Beginning of Season 7 and her and Foreman and Thirteen broke-up early in Season 6 when Foreman, temporailly, takes over the diagnostics department putting a strain on his and Thirteen's relationship.

Still, it's odd there'd be no real encounter between the two given that they were in a relationship, co-workers and firends. But, we don't know what happened in the year between House going to prison and now, and the circumstances in which Foreman became Dean of Medicine, the Diagnostics department closed, and Thirteen, Taub, and Chase released. Foreman may have had a heavy hand in Thirteen's release which would put an obvious strain on their freindship. More times than not Foreman has shown himself to be as bad as, if not worse than, House when it comes to relationships and office politics.

I just watched all three episodes of the new season, and instead of posting in all three threads, I'll post my thoughts in here.

It's good to have House back, and while I love the change of status quo in the first few episodes, it's quickly reverting back to normal. Granted it can't go completely back to normal because of Lisa Edeltstein's absence (which is sorely felt), but I wish House had kept his prison for awhile longer. However, I'm thrilled that 13 is in fact not coming back although it was good to have it resolved onscreen instead of hand-waving it away offscreen. It's also good that they're slowing rebuilding the basics and instead of flipping the switch in one episode and say "and we're back to normal!"

In a small way, I don't want Chase and Taub to return and instead have a new full rotation of doclings. I like both Adams and Park, even if Adams is somewhat Cameron 3.0. I'm amused to read in the last two review threads some people critizing Charlyne Yi's portrayal of Park because Park reminds me (especially vocally) of a friend of mine at work. As for having Chase and Taub back, I do enjoy both characters but it would be nice to have at least one new male docling. I guess we'll see how the four doclings interact with each other once everyone is back.

Even though most people expected Wilson to become Dean of Medicine, I much prefer seeing the dynamic of Foreman being in charge. Sure, it doesn't quite make logistical sense, but show hasn't been afraid of ignoring such things, so I don't mind. Besides, I rather keep Wilson in his Watson role.

Speaking of which, I have to say I actually began to believe Wilson wasn't going to forgive House and the rift would stay put (especially after he said he didn't like House), but the punch resolution works for me, even if it was faster than (at least episode wise) after Amber's death.

Lastly, I'm amused by the number of people posting to say such things as "this show is no longer any good!," "kill the show already!" and "this show is still on?" and yet keep posting (and presumably still watching).

Actually, the Park character is the only thing I really enjoyed about this past episode. I find her refreshing and far more interesting than House.

I like her character because she plays off House well though I can expect the masses having a problem with her because she is akward and not the standard eye candy studio execs demand these days.

Just saw the episode last night.

- This is a status quo show. It works best when things go back to normal quickly.

- Olivia Wilde's natural blond hair was showing and she looks good that way.

- House shouldn't have cut his hair. I wanted him to keep that scraggly season 1 hair.

- Foreman as dean does work. Although it would have been nice to see Wilson as House's boss, he already has enough of a role to play.

- They really need to bring back the opening theme.

The theme tune is an excerpt from a pre-existing song, "Teardrop" by Massive Attack. So yes, they would have to pay to license the song.

Well if they have to pay I can understand them not having one, with the budget cuts I would do everything I could to make sure as much money ended up on screen as possible.

I doubt we'll have a standard opening credits sequence again, they're becoming rarer and rarer these days as it is. By not having one they can save money by not having to license the song and they also gain a few more minutes of screen time,

If we have to get rid of a title sequence in order to get more show I'll take the trade, though I did like "Teardrop" as the theme.

If it really was more screentime vs having the opening theme back, I'd rather have the opening theme. It set the mood for the show. Besides, 30 seconds of story won't make any difference.

Besides, 30 seconds of story won't make any difference.

Well, it could. You'd be surprised how important a few seconds here and there can be to the success or failure of a scene's pacing.

But it's probably to give them 30 more seconds of ad time, which would earn them more ad revenues and help offset the budget cuts.
