The team takes on the case of a woman living in an open marriage, who is stricken ill while dating her love. Meanwhile, House decides to determine if Sam is the woman for Wilson.

House Medical Reviews

Taub is an idiot. A smart idiot, but an idiot nonetheless.

The medical mystery didn't really hold my attention. I liked the House/Wilson/Sam dynamic in the episode.

Overall, it was pretty average.

How did it end? My DVR cut it off right when Taub kissed the blond girl in the parking garage, what happened next?

My DVR cut it off after he helped her put the box in the car. I just assumed that they kissed. Thanks for confirming. I would set my DVR to add a couple minutes to House recordings, but that sometimes screws up a 9pm recordings.

it looked like they left together.

Ah, so he's going to go cheat on his wife, and lie to her.

Apparently he's acting on what Thirteen said to the patient -- that her husband lied to her because he loved her and didn't want to hurt her. Basically the episode (including the Wilson/ex-wife subplot) was exploring the theme of whether a relationship works better with total honesty or with the occasional secret kept to avoid hurting the other. Taub truly loves his wife, but he can't resist straying. Rachel tried to accept who he was and give him permission to stray, but it hurt her too much to think about it. So he's thinking it's better for her if she just doesn't know. He's not having the affair to hurt her, so he's keeping it secret to protect her. At least that's how he's thinking about it.

Can someone tell me what it was that the patient's husband did that blew their life savings? I heard the line where Thirteen told House (or whoever) how he'd lost the money, but my mind was elsewhere and I didn't actually register what she said.

Thirteen never finished explaining, as House cut her off when it didn't have anything to do with sex.

That said, the story Thirteen began to tell had to do with wind turbines.

Trekker, I think you might have gotten that episode number wrong. Not trying to be pedantic or anything but this says this was episode 18.

One thing I liked here: for once, the epiphany moment didn't come from House hearing or seeing some random, unconnected thing that gave him an inspiration about the case, but it came from seeing something that was directly connected to the patient and had been overlooked before (the lilacs). That makes more sense as part of the diagnostic process.
