Aw, man. What a way to end the season. A psych hospital. Poor House. :(

This show Glee sounds a lot like the BBC show All the Small Things (which I loved), only it's high school instead of church.

House has picked up a second haunt--I mean, hallucination.

Everyone knew that there was no way he could get clean in 24 hrs. The drug psychosis was building for awhile. There were indications that he wasn't as focussed as before.

I totally called it being an hallucination last week, guys.

An amazing, amazing episode. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop during the show and drop it did. Holy shit. That last act was amazing beyond all belief. I can't wait to see where they're going with this.

I wondered that when Wilson started in on House about why he seemingly was clean so fast.

Episode: Excellent

The last act sold the whole thing. I was watching agape at how well it was done.

Season: Average

There were two or three excellent episodes surrounded by a bunch of middling stuff I'm hard pressed to remember at the moment. This season was not House's finest hour. However, they were starting to pull it out of the fire at the end. If they can keep ramping it up next year I'll be a happy customer again.

I can't wait to see where they're going with this.

Unfortunately, barring some miracle they're probably going nowhere with it. House writers suck at playing out the implications of the dramatic events they cook up. I predict we're status quo by episode three next year.

Indeed.

Just like Vogler being in charge of the board.
Just like Forman running the team.
Just like (Sh)Twitter harassing House.
Just like House being "pain free" in his leg post ketamine treatment.
Just like Thirteen's dealing with her Hutchingtons (what happened with that, anyway?)
Just like House and Wilson being on the outs.

They always have these quick little arcs. House (the show) will be back to starus quo early next season. Within a few episodes, even. If even the first episode doesn't deal with him coming back from Rehab and being a different person.

Show: Excellent. (the reveal at the end was awesome.)
Season: Average (I think the Thirteen/Forteen diversion mid-season hurt this season.)

As always, it's been a fun season hosting these threads. Look forward to them next season!

Okay, so he was hallucinating. I'm fully prepared to eat my words because of the awesome way it was revealed. That was some fantastic editing, in both the visual and sound departments.

I gave the episode an "Excellent", but couldn't give a grade to the season simply because I don't remember it with enough clarity.

This episode: Excellent. That was a great twist that was just nuts, and could lead to an interesting season 6 if things are done right (not holding my breath).

Season: Good. A show like this doesn't have a lot of over-arching storylines, probably to try and bring in first-time viewers. Obviously the 'Fourteen' thing was dropped like a hot potato very quickly, with only minor followups. Towards the end of the season it was replaced by the Cameron/Chase relationship, which had been sidelined for some time. At least the season ended with them getting married, so we can all move forward. Cuddy's baby saga didn't last long either, although once in awhile it popped back up. That private investigator came and went, with no explanation, early in the season. Same goes for Wilson's departure from the hospital in the aftermath of Amber's death. There were only a few episodes which really even mentioned his major problems in getting over her death after he returned to the hospital. Kutner's death came out of left field and certainly had an impact, but the characters seemed to shake it off all too easily. The episode where he died was probably the best of the season, followed by this finale.

Unfortunately my guess is that the writers aren't going to keep House in the psych ward for very long, probably not much longer than Wilson was away from the hospital.

Well, I think Kutner's death is what has brought House to the breaking point but I'd agree that the others all seem to have gotten over it fairly quickly.

When it comes to follow up, though, I definately agree that this show leaves a bit to be desired. I'll make a comparison to The Sopranos, which is a much better show, by way of Tony's mother. Obviously, there'll be spoilers.

Tony's mother died at the start of season three but her influence and horrible effects on him lasted all the way to the final episode. Despite being dead she was still there, lurking in the background. House seems to never be able to do that.

Kudos! I was pretty sure House imagined it all, but the way the episode played out made me doubt myself.

Anyone taking bets that next season, House will diagnose one of the psychiatric patients without any medical equipment while he's at Mayfield Hospital?

Agreed, one of my biggest complaints.
They always come up with something interesting then it plays out by the end of the episode or early in the next.

I know this may sound strange but I would actually like to see some episodes without a "case of the week" and just solely focus on the character story lines.

Here is hoping they do (at a minimum) 3-4 episodes with House in the physic ward.

They need to have some fun with the story arcs.

Can you imagine what a smart writer could do with House screwing with the other patients, nurses and doctors at the loony bin? :guffaw:

Wow! I was underwhelmed till the big twist and final act.... and then WOW! And when Kal Penn showed up that just sealed the deal. House always manages to deliver a great season finale, this one might be the best.

For me nothing beats the second season finale where House is shot and the shooter continues to breakdown House's psyche throughout the episode.

Average end for a good season...

The episode itself was fine and the idea of House cracking up is interesting enough but I am so annoyed with the cheap cop out of the House/Cuddy relationship...I want the relationship to happen and this was a slap in the face.

The episode was good to great and the season was bad. Sorry a few good episodes at the end don't make up for the other 20 episodes where 15 of them were bad and a few of them were horrible.
