For those that want to see the Roddenberry's inspiration for Kirk; I recommend C.S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower series. I'm posting this because I have just obtained the whole first edition book series and I am amazed by the similarities between the characters. Being new to this BBS; I apologize if I have brought up an old issue.
