Honor Among Thieves

PTRACER

Lieutenant

One of my favourite DS9 episodes, I got my DVD collection out specifically to watch this the other day.

What is your opinion of the episode - story and characters?

I won't go into too much detail other than saying I thought it was a very interesting and well-written episode and I wish they'd made a better follow up than the B-story in Prodigal Daughter in season 7.

As for this episode, I really liked Bilby. His friends seemed generic bad guys in a way, so I wasn't fond of them and Bilby's boss was instantly dislikable - he seemed quite evil. In a way, I wish Bilby could have been saved somehow and not been killed by the Klingons. You know, he'd somehow escaped.

Throughout the episode, I had a feeling that the Starfleet operative who briefed O'Brien every so often was the undercover guy who infiltrated Starfleet! I didn't trust him one bit, but he turned out to be ok after all.

I think the Orion Syndicate was something very interesting that could have been explored more deeply in other episodes.

I liked this episode too, even though I haven't seen it in forever. I didn't like the whole tying this episode with Prodigal Daughter though, which I thought was very convenient.

Yeah, I enjoyed this one too. I guess it's a bit silly in some ways (send O'Brien on an undercover mission for Starfleet Intelligence because...?), but it was nice to see a seedier environment than we're used to and I thought Colm Meaney was excellent. The show needed more cool O'Brien episodes in the later seasons.

While I enjoy the episode, it seemed a little incongruous with the overall Dominion arch. I know that the whole point was the Dominion making inroads with the Orion Syndicate, but I dont think we were really introduced to the Syndicate prior to this to really get a feel to the danger they posed.

This episode is totally amazing.

I absolutely love Bilby!

My only complaint about the episode is that it is an old cliche that has been done to death many times before in numerous mafia movies.

Other than that, it's a 10/10.

I also totally agree that they should never have bastardized this story with the abysmal "Prodigal Daugther" schlock.

I liked it because we get to see how people outside starfleet live. However I wasn't a big fan of the Dominion tie-in.
