That said... one of my cats is black. The other is tortoiseshell (black, grey, brown, orange, white, and varying shades inbetween). It's very hard finding sheets in that color.

"Tortoiseshell"--that's how I describe my hair color. But no greys or whites. Yet. Tortoiseshell hair clips are nearly invisible on me.

I went with red sheets because it looks good with all the monochromatic stuff in my room (gray carpet, black TV/Computer/Chair, black and gold bedding, etc.) I also have two backup sets of sheets in black(shows dust too easily) and silver(high-count satin, rawr.)

Pick something that suits you. Red may be too bold for most, but don't be afraid of some color.

I like pristine white sheets. Goes with everything and looks ultra-crisp and clean. Same advice goes for bathroom towels, even though you didn't ask.

Pastel coloured sheets look twee, dark coloured sheets look cheap. White FTW.

YMMV, obviously. And I do use other colours in the guest bedroom/bathroom, funnily enough.
