Holography and art

Do you think holography can advance to the point where it can accurately reproduce the colors, hues, and brushstrokes of oil paintings? For instance, if the Mona Lisa is scanned, frame and all, it could appear to hang on the wall of Joe's Museum as an exact likeness of the one in the Louvre?

I don't believe holography has advanced far enough yet, but 3D printing might now be capable of rendering the surface detail of paintings to a resolution that would satisfy the human eye. Why anyone would bother is another question -- I think there would be more of a market for miniature versions of famous sculptures accurately scanned from the original.
