Holodeck doors vanishing?

Rewatching TNG, I noticed that on the holodeck, you'll see the door vanishing into the simulation many many times.

Has that ever been shown on Voyager?

Yes, although since most Voyager holodeck episodes were crap I don't really want to rewatch them to find an example.

lol

What was that episode where the ship got all bendy? They took shelter in Sandrine's and then the holodeck got bendy.... and then things were better.

Also, in the ep where the EMH turned to the Dark Side....

Hey, "Real Life" was good.

I believe the episodes you are referring to are Season Two's "Twisted" and Season Three's "Darkling"..

The only instance I can remember holodeck doors vanishing (kind of) is during Spirit Folk, when Tom and Harry call for an exit, only to have the holodeck malfunction and the doors re-emerge into the holo-scene. I also recall a Hirogen Nazi calling for an exit and it appearing in "The Killing Game" after Seven and Neelix are shot....

Probably cost saving. Why have an effect of a door fading when you can cut to them walking into the scene and have the sound of the door closing behind them out of shot. It also moves the action quicker - we've had Holodecks since 1987 so no need to show us all their functions over and over...

I don't remember the VOY crew ever standing in the arch monkeying around with the controls ever either. Usually they just stayed in their hololab thingy and altered programs there.

So to answer your question, no I don't remember the arch ever vanishing.

They got rid of the arch and just used 'access panels' as in Bride of Chaotica!.

I think the access panels were a fine thing, I remember them from Persistance of Vision etc., not to mention clever timing used for instance when Janeway exits the holodeck in Scorpion, to avoid having to do a major greenscreen EFX shot.

VOY went through significant cost-cutting, I felt that compared to TNG they were a lot less at warp and you saw a static starfield outside the screens as well.

I seem to remember seeing the exit during the Pathfinder episode - but I may be mistaken and that wasn't technically Voyager.

Which is annoying as the shots should be reversed for each other's shows.
