Hollywood Strike and Star Trek

I am extremely excited about the upcoming Star Trek film, but in the back of my mind, I can't help but wonder what affect (if any) this upcoming movie industry strike could have on the production. Are they going to have to rush filming? Are they going to have enough time for effects and editing? I don't know exactly what the "deadline" for this possible strike means, but I am understandably curious if this strike could have a significant impact on the new Trek movie and was wondering what all of you thought about it.

IIRC, there was also a writers strike back in the late 80s during TNG's 2nd season and around the time ST5 was made, and we all know how that movie fared:)

The strike is by the screenwriters guild (IIRC). Since Star Trek's script is already done, it shouldn't affect it at all.

It doesn't sound like the industry is panicking. This is the first I've even heard of any sort of strike at all. The last time there was talk of an entertainment industry strike there was talk of doom-and-gloom and shows double-filming episodes "just in case" for months earlier. That doesn't seem to be the case at all.

I agree that unless a need arises to rewrite the script before filming begins I can't see this having any impact on Trek XI.

Cheers

Most of principal photography should be done by the time the strike happens, if it happens.
That is what I am thinking, too. I have been very confused about whether filming on movies needs to start by June to make the deadline or end by June. There has been talk of the Actors guild and Directors guild going on strike as well, but I am not sure if that is going to happen or not. I think that no matter what comes of this, that Star Trek is secure and that by the time any problems could possibly arise, Star Trek will almost be in post-production and be wrapping up for the most part.
