Hmm. What TMP could have looked like...

In my mind, that's how TMP should have looked. Very nice.

Absolutely, TMP is right up there with my favourite Trek movies, but one of my biggest criticisms of it is the drab coloured uniforms and some of the ship's interior. This addresses that, and would have possibly resulted in the godawful uniforms from TWOK-TUC not seeing the light of day.

I could easily see an attack by the Klingons being incorporated into the climax with V'Ger, though. It could've added some more pressure and tension in finding the solution. And it would've added some more action to the film, which it certainly needed more of, IMO.

I know that's not exactly what Probert was proposing, but I could see a similar scenario working for the film.

Sorry, that makes no narrative sense. The whole point of the Klingons at the open is to show how hopeless it is for ships to fight V'ger. That's their sole function in the story. Originally in the script they weren't even digitized, they were just Hulk smashed out of existence. That's how inconsequential they are.

That pretty much matches up with how I'd have my bridege (see ideal ship/bridge thread)
the only difference is I'd position the stations as they were in the series.
so if you were just standing in the middle of the bridge and turned clockwise 360 degrees you would start at the
main view screen, then Gravity Control, Damage and repair, Environmental, Sciences and library computer, starboard turbolift, Communications, Port turbolift, Engineering, internal security, weapons and defense and finally back at the main view screen with the captain, helm and Navigation in the center
