Hmm. What if Dr. Sam Beckett were to . . .

Chef Daniels or the Relativity would likely get involved and try to restore Beckett to his own time and disable Ziggy's quantum accelerator or delay its invention to later in the timeline when Humanity is more mature.

Daniels or the Relativity could possibly go back to the Quantum Accelerator's invention at Stallion's Gate New Mexico and see if there was likely temporal-tampering by Future Guy / his agents. Or if Beckett himself was somehow duped into acting as Future Guy's agent from a discreet distance, with layers upon layers of bureaucrats and go-between's to keep anyone from accidentally figuring-out too many pieces of the puzzle all at once.

Wasn't there something in Quantum Leap about him leaping into people outside his lifetime who were related to him? I think it was a soldier in the US Civil War... They could have said that Jonathan Archer was a distant descendant. The genetics fit! :)

And since Scott Bakula once said that Archer's middle name is Beckett... ;)

(This whole thing would not work, however, if any QL episode ever mentioned Trek as fiction. Did it? I can't remember)

Ahhh, but Sam Beckett's movements through time were being controlled by God. I don't think Daniels or Braxton would have been able to interfere.

:)

^ I've often thought (and still do) that Al the Bartender from QL's final episode actually IS Braxton.

Not just because they were played by the same actor, but I think it would be a fine way for Braxton to live out his retirement years. If he can't time travel anymore himself, he can help others to do it.

I don't know if Trek was ever referenced on on QL. But I do know that when QL was on the air there was talk of a possible Magnum, P.I. crossover (since both shows were created and produced by Donald Bellisario).

That, however, didn't happen when Magnum was, in fact, referenced as fiction in one of Sam's few leaps into the 80s.

Yeah, I would agree with that normally but then the new Trek movie had a Beastie Boys song and we all know that the Beastie Boys reference Trek.
