Himbo: Why did ladies accept Trip when they rejected Riker?

Re: Himbo: Why did ladies accept Trip when they rejected Rik

Trinneer, better actor.

Frakes, beard first, then the weight gain.

It's got to be said...all of the characters on Enterprise were more human and better developed than the ones on TNG (except maybe for Data). TNG was my fave after TOS for years, but Enterprise supplanted it pretty quickly with a great cast and characters that I was interested in.

^^^

This begs the question: Why is it that TNG, the most popular first-run Star Trek show, the least sexually appealing ("sex appeal!") when it comes to its male characters and/or its male cast members?

Re: Himbo: Why did ladies accept Trip when they rejected Rik

Because the TNG characters are not sexy? :D

Okay I'll try to be a bit clearer...it's a combo of acting and writing. TNG is overall very bland so the characters come off as bland. Picard's an old lady, Worf's an old lady who growls, Geordi is frankly kind of neuter, Riker's an off-putting blowhard, Data has some appeal in a nerdy, boyish sort of way.

DS9 is not bland, so the characters come off as far for interesting and therefore sexy. It was most apparent for the characters who weren't afflicted with Starfleet blandness - Garak, Dukat, Weyoun, Damar, Odo - but Bashir and Sisko also were appealing.

On the other shows, it was a matter of individual actors being attractive. Nobody particularly on VOY, tho I guess Beltran and RDM were okay. On ENT, Scott Bakula and Connor Trinneer were definitely attractive.

Well, they made up for it by all growing sexy beards by the time of Star Trek: Nemesis.
