Highlander remake on the way

I agree with that, it wouldn't be the same without it. I could live with a remake as long as Brian May sits in on guitar.

I would be weary of a remake. I don't want to be reminded of the monstrosity that was the "Princes of the Universe" cover in Highlander: The Source.

I made the mistake and watched that. End game was ok.
I've seen at least half the episodes of the series, but, only seen bits and pieces of the movies, not even sure which ones, so, I'd never been exposed to that before. Now my ears bleeding, thanks alot :vulcan:

^^^^
Dude, I totally forgot about that shite at the end of the Source. Watching that clip brought back the intense abdominal distress I had after watching that train wreck of a movie. God that was awful.

Like I said I'm a big fan of the first movie and the series. I even really liked Endgame. I simply refuse to watch Source. I don't want my last memory of those characters to be crap like that.

Compared to The Source, Endgame was a fucking masterpiece never to be rivaled.

My personal Highlander Universe includes the following:

Highlander (1986)
Highlander: The Series (1992-1998)
Highlander: The Raven *Various Episodes* (1998-1999)
Highlander: Endgame *Director's Cut* (2000)
Highlander: Reunion (2008)

LOL.

So are there any actors officially attached yet? I am hoping that it is set in NYC though. There could be some great backdrops for head choppin' action. FAO Swartz would be a fun one.

Gerard Butler is FORTY-ONE YEARS OLD.

Now, don't get me wrong, I do like him. But Connor should be played by a relatively young guy. Late twenties or early thirties, like Christopher Lambert was for the original.

i hope they address the issue of identify theft. It seems like that would be one factor in pushing the Gathering in happening.

Hmm..sign me up for another fan of Fehr as Ramirez (if they keep the character).

Too bad they are dumping the old TV universe....the excuse for the aging actors is that one previously unmentioned sign of the Gathering is that the Immortals have begun aging. (The other that Immortals have stopped being born...both happening simultaneously, though the aging hadn't been noticed for a while)

I'd prefer an actual Scot to play Connor, but the only Scottish actor I know of who's in the right age bracket is James McAvoy, who would probably be too pricey for Highlander. He's 31 right now, and Christopher Lambert was 28 while filming Highlander.

I know it's a series thing, but I would love a quick scene or shot of a Watcher. Just some guy following Conner and a flash of his tattoo would be cool. Very fan-boy but hey my user name is highlander.:p

I hope that they don't have the final battle in the movie be The Gathering. Best not to open up that can of worms for the sake of possible sequels. No need to stretch this Highlander film series continuity beyond all credibility.

There's probably the perfect guy to play Connor out there somewhere whom you'd just never heard of because he's only ever been in obscure Scottish TV shows without international releases (or small films, or on stage, or whatever). The part of Connor needs an open audition, rather than asking someone specifically.

I mean, look at Thor. Before that came out, we knew Chris Hemsworth as Kirk's dad but apart from that the biggest thing he'd been in was the soap opera Home and Away. He was so obscure he'd been on Dancing With the Stars, for chrissakes! And yet, he was an awesome Thor.

It was so obvious that the first movie was never suppose to have sequels. Connor WON the Prize. What the hell is there worth telling after that? Of course we got Highlander II next...:rommie:

Okay, I'll still take the world created by the inclusion of Highlander: The Series over just the original film as a 'one-and-done' any day of the week.

Same goes for Stargate.

But I'm glad you know what you like. :)

Gosh, I really hope we don't get perpetually 21 year old rookie Immortals going to a modern Holy Ground college with lots of training montages. There's just so much to do with this universe that is in keeping with the good mythos and I just know they are going to muck it up.

If this is a European production, you might get someone reasonably appropriate in age and culture to be a Highlander. Although, when was the last time you saw a really accurate casting? Russell Crowe as Robin Hood? ;)

Someone said Kevin McKidd earlier, that makes sense to me. However, I really wish they would just make it a new MacLeod, not remake Connor.
