High Budget Sci-Fi Films That Disappointed You!

Let's start a sister thread to "Low Budget Sci-Fi Film That You Enjoyed".

The first one I can think of is "War Of The Worlds". It costs $132m. but I found it extremely boring and couldn't finish it the first time I saw it on DVD.

Hancock -- the first half was interesting, but it was like they didn't know where to go from there. Never mind telegraphing Charlize Theron's role with every single scene she was in before the reveal.

Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Honestly, I could complain about all the prequels, but considering the decent reviews the third installment managed, color me extremely disappointed. Anyone spending that much money with that cast should have been able to produce better performances.

A performance can only go so far when the director is only interested in getting from one scene to the next and CGI.

I wasn't writing as a slight against the actors, most of whom have been very good in other roles. ;)

Wow, I liked War of the Worlds (watched it today, for that matter), Hancock, SW Ep III, A.I., and the Dark Knight, and liked them all.

Judging by my taste in men, I always knew something was wrong with me, but this confirms it, like, for real. :p

Star Trek: First Contact. Two barely connected plotlines, neither of which I found very exciting. Nice music though.

Glad to see FC gets props for the score. I agree. It was one of the best for the Trek films.

No mention of Battlefield Earth?

I guess this all depends on how you define "high budget". I could say, for example, Star Trek: Insurrection. But at 60M, it was hardly high budget by today's standards.

So I'll say Spider-Man 3. Too many characters to follow, so the ones that were actually interesting (Sandman) got shortchanged.

Funny thing is I really love the Superman Returns poster where he's floating above the Earth.

I do too.

I didn't really start to being disappointed until I got it on DVD...I saw it when it came out in the theater and was still on the OMG! NEW SUPERMAN MOVIE! OMG! high.
