Hidden Frontier

Honestly, I never could get into HF because the greenscreen work was SO distracting, even though I liked the idea of following Shelby's character. If I wanted to check out the later, better episodes, is there a good jumping-on point?

This might not be the advice of a hardcore fan, but I started by watching both Helena Chronicles and Odyssey, which were two spinoffs that started out excellent and just continued to be. And they don't necessarily require the watching of HF first, as I discovered, since they do a decent job of catching you up on a few continuing plot threads.

You might try watching those first and then going back and checking out HF afterwards. At least, that's what I did.

Yeah I think that's pretty good advice. Start with those then you can always go back and try the earlier series again later.

I wasn't a committed watcher of Hidden Frontier, but I was impressed by the ambition and scope and how the creators weaved old and original characters into what appeared a relatively cohesive universe. It was a really neat love letter to 24th century Trek.

I did watch the crossovers like Operation Beta Shield and Orphans of War and I thought both were cool. I also liked Star Trek Odyssey (really loved that ship), and Helena Chronicles. I thought the Archien were a great adversary with some really cool warships.

I finished Frontier Guard yesterday. Such a shame we'll never see the plot resolved. I really liked their Starfleet-Academy-with-the-serial-numbers-filed-off (or Babylon 5 or...) setting.

Back in the day, we liked to point people to the Season 6 premiere, "Countermeasures," as a good starting point.

Funnily enough Carlos I started with the prior episode, The Battle Is Joined, then over the space of a week (or two? Can't remember) watched the entire Season 1-5 in time for the premiere of Season 6 :)

I got really into Hidden Frontier because in the beginning it was basically a ship full of young people. I really liked seeing a show full of characters around my age at that time that were going through similar things to myself. The canon shows tended to basically have one token academy grad, but this show was full of them...

This is kinda random, but did the USS Helena look like this emoji to anyone else?

You can't unsee it ;)

HD was a quite a mix of qualities, but ultimately at its best proved a lot of fun with interesting characters.

Put Frontier Guard on Bluray, then self publish a novel tying up any loose ends!! Come on!!! :)
