Hi-Rez Color Schematics of the New Enterprise

The (rather large) thumbnails...

Why does the look at the saucer from above show it as slightly oval, but the view from underneath shows it as round?
The thumbnail for the dorsal view is distorted, for some reason, making it appear oval (you'll note that the nacelles appear shorter and thicker, also) but the larger image to which it links shows a circular saucer.

The thumbnail images are distorted only because I wanted to keep a consistent size on all thumbnail images.

The full-size images, of course, are presented in their appropriate dimensions.

Also, within a day or two, I'll have a new set of schematics for the New-E which addresses some of the issues others have brought up about the existing prints.

Look for them soon-

Awesome, I'm actually working on a 3D model based off these Blueprints. However, I'm going back and forth between these and the ILM model to be accurate.

Maybe you could be doing a second version where all the different parts (nacelles, saucer, etc...) are at the positions of the original TOS version. Don't know how much work that would be, but it would be cool to see.

Humm that's interesting. Maybe I'll try that out.

Exactly. The ship is 762 metres long.

That depends heavily on your source, though. The model was DESIGNED at roughly the same size as the TMP version of the ship - then was changed for a couple of 'dramatic shots' in a few scenes. Even within the context of the movie, the scale is wildly inconsistant, with shots having the ship too small for habitation, and others having her dwarf a Super Star Destroyer.

We've also got four or five 'official' statements of her dimensions, which makes pinning her down a lot harder. Hell, the official model kit started as a 1:1000 model and is only slightly bigger than the 1:1000 classic Enterprise.. but now they're 'upping the scale' to 1:2500 or so to make sense of it all.

The way to madness...

The real problem, I think, is that people really can't imagine just how frackin' big 300 meters really is, much less over twice that size. They just get used to the absurd numbers science-fiction throws out and never really THINK about what all that implies.

300 metres isn't much at all. And certainly not enough for what we saw on screen

It's over three times the length of a football field. It's longer than a Nimitz Class aircraft carrier. Ever been next to one of those things? They're fargin' huge. You just proved my point, you really DON'T know how big we're talking about here.. you don't really comprehend it.

(And using the screen as evidence is folly because the ship would clearly have three or four different shuttlebays with different sizes and layouts, depending on what shot you're looking at.)

Truth is, a lot of sci-fi television/movie fans have developed a SERIOUS case of penis envy. Everything always has to be bigger, bigger, bigger. That Star Destroyer not impressive enough, here's a SUPER Star Destroyer! Need to be more impressive than the TOS Enterprise? Here's one seventeen times the size!

Seriously, Spaceball One was created the way it was for a reason.. and the desire for a mega-huge starship Enterprise is exactly what Mel Brooks was poking fun of.

Nimitz Class carriers are 332 meters long...

There fore she would actually be over 90 ft shorter then a Nimitz.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I've uploaded the PDF source files for each schematic view of the new Enterprise. This effectively allows you to see each schematic with a infinite amount of resolution (practically speaking).

You can see the files at the bottom of this page:

http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/STXI-Enterprise.php

Enjoy!
What is the difference between the "Original Versions" and the "Revised Versions"? This temporary computer has very limited hard drive space.

According to the artist, "Even though there's no news about the release of an official set of blueprints or orthos of the new 1701-JJ, I'm boldly going to send you the most recent version of my take on it. I've checked it with the photos of the Quantum Mechanix Miniature, which is as official as possible right now.

Isn't there a tech book still in the works...?

It's more like "Starship Spotter" than a tech-book, and it's been delayed. (It was supposed to be out already, last I knew.) No news about what's up with it now.

Ok so to you the ship is ~300 metres, which means that taking away the nacelles, the saucer and secondary hull would be about 225 metres.

Are you f-ing joking? :wtf:

You honestly think the ship is comparable in size to this?

http://military.discovery.com/technology/vehicles/ships/images/nimitz-625x450.jpg

You think that that, is equivalent to:

Including huge sets like this:

[The first image was hotlinked. The second and third were oversized. All have been converted to links. - M']

All official sources recognised that the idea of the ship being 300 metres is laughable, hence the multitude of ~700 metre official figures.

I'm guessing the inside of a brewery probably doesn't match the effin' HUGE size of a Nimitz-class flight deck. So, yes, I can easily see the sets, etc, you mention being comparable in size.

In fact, if you don't think that last pic can fit comfortably within a carrier, you honestly have no idea how big a carrier IS. Honestly.
