Hi-Rez Color Schematics of the New Enterprise

Greetings All-

I just wanted to let you know that there are now some great high-resolution color schematics of the New Enterprise online at the www.cygnus-x1.net

You can view them here: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/STXI-Enterprise.php

These were drawn from Argentine Graphic Artist 'Gustavo' who has other great Trek-related schematics on www.cygnus-x1.net (See: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/blueprints-main2.php for a complete list of schematics and blueprints)

Gus is still working on new elevations of the the STXI Enterprise which I hope to have online soon.

Hope you enjoy them-

-John

The windows look far too large. The docking ports too. It looks like the artist thinks the new ship is the size of the TMP one when it is really more than double the length.

These images look great! I don't think they are 100% accurate, but the quality of the work makes up for it. :)

For what it's worth, the windows and docking ports were based on the assumption that this new Enterprise is slightly larger than the TMP version.

The problem, though, is that the new ship is 2.3 times the length of the TMP version.

Exactly. The ship is 762 metres long.

Also, the artist forgot to paint the left hand nacelle formation light red at the back. Both are green, which is incorrect.

It's a nice image, but inaccurate. He adds a bridge window where there shouldn't be one, fudges the shape of the other windows around the saucer and drive sections, and fudges the detailing of the "docking ports" to make them more TMP-like. This screws up the proportions of the ship to Bernd Russel's asinine "The ship is 300 meters" claim and is totally different from the ship we saw on screen.

So, yeah, it's a cool image. But it aint the Enterprise.

I'll pass your comments along to the artist... Since there aren't are official schematics and/or blueprints of the New E yet, I think we should be a little more forgiving about some of the inconsistencies -- particularly about the size of the E since that issue alone is causing a good deal of controversy...

Seriously, how big a deal is it that the new ship appears to much larger than we're used to? When I consider both ships and their requirements, a larger enterprise makes sense to me. It's the shuttle bay loading scene that makes it for me. If Enterprise is ever to serve as an evacuation vessel, it's going to need more that the few shuttles the original had parked in the hangar.

We can speculate that the Kelvin's meeting with the Narada sparked Starfleet to create a ship-wide evac system that gives the crew a warp speed escape.

I think the prudence of a full crew evacuation system has been common knowledge since 1912.

Beautifully done, but I concur with some of the other posters that cite the incorrect location of the bridge "window". In reality, it is located down in the thin slit where the front spotlight was on the TMP refit, upping the scale tremendously compared to what they have currently shown, as it should. Other than that, I absolutely love the azteking/detailing they put into the hull and all the other little greebles. Fix the window (and the other window sizes as well) and it looks dead-balls-on to me. :techman:

The (rather large) thumbnails...

Why does the look at the saucer from above show it as slightly oval, but the view from underneath shows it as round?
