Hey, I never noticed that before over here too!

A couple things of recent really stood out, and I don't mean Philips head screws because that's just going to be a given. I'm talking the shrouded fun stuff you won't see unless you're distracted and/or bored at just the right moment:

In "Timescape", the side door to Engineering is fully open for long enough to notice there's a Jeffries' Tube hatch that leads... into the wall since the main bulkhead to the outer corridor is right there on the opposite side! So much for thinking that doorway was to a turbolift or toilet where someone who drank too much hot chocolate and spilled it everywhere could go clean up or something...

in "Remember Me", when the portal is opened on the bridge and Dr Crusher is almost sucked in by it, you can see the bottom of Data's console and it's got paint peeling off all over the place. The blu-ray reveals a lot more than you'd expect, and it's part of the fun.

"Ship in a Bottle" reveals way too easily the black felt with yellow masking tape used to decorate the holodeck with. (Never mind the plot hole that the holodeck was acting up before Moriarty had a chance to escape, but I digress...)

A few times where the Engineering room with the pool table prop has said prop removed and room redecorated to be a larger junction between corridors for other decks, most recently of which was in "Liaisons", but they've done that a few times before too...

They also used main engineering as the space where Beverly and Deanna did their aerobics.

Sometimes, like earlier in the seasons, the computers they build into the ops stations for the show's use, would be hanging open, like everybody was tired and didn't see that.

There's also a season three or later episode where Worf is walking ( caught this in one of the Caption This! TNG threads) and holding a phaser, and you can see a black power cord running along a set corridor wall.

And thanks to that company that made a highly accurate prop replica, I know that Worf -- once again the guilty party, was holding a phaser with ... the bottom hatch door hanging open. EDIT: He had opened it earlier in the episode, but neither Dorn nor anybody on set noticed he didn't close it.

I shouldn't be overly paying attention to season one, where a console shroud is slightly askew (e.g. rear console or Wesley's) as it is a little unfair, especially with HD, to point out what was really made for SD back in the day. But on the other hand, watching to spot little hiccups is a new fun way to watch and it doesn't detract from enjoying the actual episodes in the way they were always so engaging. Besides, the make-up was always held to a higher standard, apart from Q in "Hide & Q" where he mimics Data's appearance - which is still excellent, and I don't think the area where the paint was tapered off would not have shown on a SD CRT due to blurriness of the set (dot pitch) combined with those pesky bunny ear antennas...

I will say this, while "The Battle" introduced the Stargazer, "The Big Goodbye" and others featured in its place an old Constitution Class (Kirk-TOS era) ship. As starships are known to last a century (in-universe, behind the scenes they had no real money to build more 24th century-style ships until season four), and why not? It's reusing a robust design. Even ship corridor bulkheads could easily be standardized and repurposed/reused between new classes of ships when old ones are decommissioned. /solvedNitpick

And I always thought that Datalore's cargo bay transporter (used while the shields were up) had a blue upper-lit glow, but on blu-ray with a properly calibrated TV, it's a distinct purple. Nice bit of nuance in a set that's also a cooler hue of gray, while remembering it's not the 1960s where everyone had a field day with the color wheel. The wheel is used here, but it's definitely got that sort of refinement...

And an inverse-goof: "The Big Goodbye" recognizes characters in wearing different outfits to their own; later stories and episodes largely didn't create a trope by revisiting "the obvious", but it's such a nice touch that another time period or culture would be cognizant, even a simulation, for the sake of authenticity. But, again, it can't be done every week as each party involved rolls with it. But not all fans of a show start at day one and may never get to know some of the nicer touches season 1 really put in, in amongst the treacle and tacky.

GAAAH! Great catch! The mirrors were too perfectly designed and I was staring at the set more than the sexploitation as any cargo bay could have doubled for this, as it had in a season 4 episode with the bright green and orange set adornments that didn't remind anybody at all of Triskeleon... :D

Nice finds!

Especially the extension cord one; especially in episodes where the plotting and acting are so good, it's harder to see the mistakes. Granted, being subjective and all, or if one has a more consistent eagle eye, it'll be noticed at some point.

LOL re: comments re Worf's phaser phetish.

In another thread, somebody pointed out an interesting and weird find I had never noticed before:

When the show phased out the original season uniforms and they still being used by various crew members who were not leads, there was an episode where they stopped using them. What episode was that? "The Best of Both Worlds: Part II". Yes, midway into their Borg crisis and Captain kidnapping, the crew apparently thought it was time to change uniforms and ditch the old designs.
