Hexadactyly

Can the extra digits be of use, depending on where they're positioned? I would think that with proper technique, that could be a boon for typing or piano playing, if the right kind of duplication happens.

It's pretty rare for the extra fingers to be fully functional, but I suppose it could come in handy with extra training, like the genetically engineered pianist with twelve fingers in Gattaca.
And don’t forget this guy.

(Actually, in the most common form of polydactylism, the extra digits are soft tissue without bones or tendons or any dexterity whatsoever.)

I don't know anyone with extra digits, but back in bootcamp when I did my mandatory military service, there was one who was born with an extra nipple and another one who was born with only one testicle (took him on his word about that one)

^ I'd forgotten about that ad.

That never aired here in the States--unfortunately. But when I found it on YouTube, I LOVED it. I also love the series of additional videos. In fact, the dubstep one is partially to blame for getting me into dubstep. Apparently thumbcats can hypnotize people too. ;)
