To which I say: thank the Lords of Kobol. I love G.R.'s Star Trek, but I cannot think of a single Roddenberry-scribed script that I found to be an example of excellent Trek.

I am willing to be corrected on that, but TMP and "Who Watches the Watchers" keep bouncing around my head. So if Abrams is the writing opposite of the Great Bird, more power to him.

I'm fine with Abrams not having an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Trek. I personally enjoyed TNG and DS9 as well as a few episodes of Enterprise but by and large the post-87 Trek excluding TFF and TUC are nothing that I absolutely need acknowledged in any way, shape or form. I've been longing for a Trek that just goes with the continuity of Star Trek, TAS and the first six movies as that's the only form of Trek I care about anyway. If Abrams wants the movie to be about Star Trek and not the fucking "Franchise" then I say more power to him!
