What a frakkin' mixed bag this show has become.

The Good:

The stuff in the hospital room - yeah, that's pretty much the juicy confrontation I expected to happen eventually, and handled reasonably well and with minimal confusion, stupidity and sketchy logic.

I don't care what you Mo-haters say, I've missed the gorgeous goofball. :D He's a pretty good character to have in the mix when in full Mad Scientist mode. He just needs to stay that way and never, ever have superpowers (btw, did he somehow lose them?)

The Bad:

Why are Claire, Hiro and Tracey on this show? Snoooore.

Nice going, Rene. Tell Peter bwahaha, here's a clue to something that will blow your tiny little mind. Give me a break, either he needs to just tell Peter the truth (which of course would be clunky drama) or shut the hell up entirely. What's with the BS mindgames? He didn't predict that Peter would go running right to Nathan?

Matt isn't really just going to go back to LA without trying to do something about the very likely fact that Sylar now has mind-control powers. Is he planning to hide under a rock for the rest of his life?

Don't tell me they missed out on the chance to have Mohinder reunite with Matt while Matt still has Sylar in his noggin. Another missed opportunity in a show that's had entirely way too many!!!!

The Ugly:

Peter's reaction to discovering that his beloved brother may have been murdered: that's okay, you look just like him, and that's good enough for me! And I'll ignore the fact that you happen to be my brother's murderer, because either I'm co-dependent to a truly depraved degree, or stupider than anyone's ever imagined!!! :rommie:

Nope, not buying it. Peter's reaction should be a dig-in-his-heels denial of any possibility that Nathan is dead. The corpse in the public storage place is a trick. Sylar is dead, Nathan is alive, end of discussion. Peter should be on edge and slightly hysterical, because of course he knows it's not the end of the discussion. The one thing he should not be, is calmly entertaining the thought of accepting Sylar as his brother!!!

And speaking of the public storage place - that's where Angela chose to store the body of her first-born son!?! Jeezus, lady! A public storage place???
so I'm assuming that Sylar's mind is in Peter's body now? No spoilers!
Ah-HAH! That certainly would make Peter's bizarre reaction suddenly reasonable. It's hard to tell whether it's a clue or just more terrible characterization. :D

Did Peter only get the flight power or did he get all of Sylars powers when he touched him? He should have gotten all of them or at the very least been unable to pick which power he got.

Presumably he got just flight - and who knows what the "rules" are for picking up powers from Sylar? - but it would be a cinch for him to tell whether Nathan is really Sylar - just touch him and try to get the seeing power. (And then switch quickly to something else before it makes him squirrely.) It's very unlikely that Nathan would just naturally evolve that particular power in addition to the TK, picking up memories by touch, etc.

I always liked Mohinder. Hell, at the start of the series he was my favorite character alongside Hiro. I thought he would be become the power-less Xavier to lead this group of mutants. Too bad they didn't go in that direction. It's a shame when they turned him into the crazy bug killer, but at least he finally got powers! :p

I liked Mohinder's character a lot in the first season. But it all went donwhill from there as the character became stupider and was always manipulated by the bad guys.

Hang on a minute, before this gets into TWOP territory; there's no necessary indication that Peter is just being ok with it
Peter did say, essentially, "if in theory you are really Sylar and not Nathan, does it even matter?" Gettin' pretty metaphysical there, for a paramedic. ;)

That's the problem - Peter wouldn't intellectualize this situation. He's a gut reaction type of guy. Sylar, by any definition, sitting in front of him, after having murdered Nathan? There's only one gut reaction Peter should be having to that.

But now it seems like his gut reaction is, "I don't really care about Nathan as a person. I just care about having someone who seems like Nathan to cling to like a lamprey." Eeee-YUCH! :rommie:
It seems like he's in a great deal of denial,
It does? I was hoping for a little denial - and with Peter, we should be getting a whole river of denial (wakka wakka) - it shouldn't be anything subtle that's possible to miss. I sure missed it, and I was looking for it. I even rewound the DVR and checked again. Nope, he was cucumber-cool.
Nathan saked Peter if he could ever look at him and not see Sylar, Peter couldn't answer him.
He gave him a quizzical look, like he hadn't considered that idea. But there's no way he hadn't considered it - that should be the first thing he thinks of - he can't bear looking at Nathan and thinking he could be Sylar! It's the reverse that he should have to strain to consider.

I'm sorry, it's just baaaaad characterization, like when Mohinder decided to experiment on himself, like when Nathan decided to throw everyone in mutant Gitmo, like when Sylar decided not to lop of Hiro and Charlie's heads, but play nice just for the sake of the plot. This show has a long, sad history of completely idiotic mischaracterizations simply for the convenience of the plot, and we're seeing it yet again. If this show didn't have a history of doing this, I'd be far less likely to jump to the conclusion that They Are Doing It AGAIN!

Speaking of missed opportunities we could have had the Heroes' version of a Weekend at Bernie's --Angela could have brought in the Puppeteer from last season to animate Nathan:lol:

does this mean The Haitian is actually more powerful than Samuel? He can nullify anybody's power right? The Party Pooper if you will.

Mohinder as The Fly in season 3 was pretty bad. I was hoping that he would be off the show this year. The writers simply don't know what to do with the character after the first season ended.

Looks like things are finally coming together. I thought was is cool how Samuel's powers greatly increase while he is near other mutants.

I'm surprised more people don't automatically think that Sylar is in Peter right now (bow chicka wow wow). In the big confrontation, Matt/Sylar touched hands with Peter and they even did a big close up of it with the CGI effect. And then Peter/Sylar does whatever he can to stick close to Sylar/Nathan. The only odd thing is when he touches him in the Grand Canyon (canteen boy?) he takes the flight power but doesn't take over his original body just like that. Why? Does he want to tease it out and make "Nathan" suffer for "stealing" his body first?

:rommie:

Given my slash proclivities, I'm surprised at myself that I didn't think of it immediately! Shame on me! :(

But why the heck would Sylar hang around in Peter when he could be jumping right into Nathan???

And yes, I am taking advantage of being able to write stuff like that while I can. :D

In the big confrontation, Matt/Sylar touched hands with Peter and they even did a big close up of it with the CGI effect.

Okay, attempting to be serious now, let's analyze that...

Peter touches Matt/Sylar, gets Matt's powers (which does seem to be a necessary step to having Sylar invade his mind, right?) and that gives Sylar a way in.

Peter only gets powers by accident if he isn't guarding against them - in a scuffle, he might be taken off guard.

When Peter/Sylar wakes up at the Grand Canyon, he grabs Nathan's hand and whoops - he can't get in! Why? Nathan doesn't have Matt's powers! (So he takes the flight power instead so he can at least stay near his body.)

Who's to say that Sylar can just jump right back into his old body? Sylar has assumed it, but there's never been any evidence it will be automatic. If having Matt's powers is the necessary route in, then Sylar can never get back into his old body, unless...

He somehow gets his old body (Nathan) to use the seeing power to get Matt's power. Which means Peter/Sylar has to track down Matt, while somehow keeping Nathan in tow, and either get Nathan to crack open Matt's brain, or to crack open Peter's brain (that is, while Sylar is in it - oh the irony!) after Peter has glommed Matt's power again.

And yes, I was laughing hysterically writing all that. If that's what the writers have in mind, it's either sheer genius or the biggest convoluted mess imaginable! :rommie:

They lost me this season. The whole teasing of Sylar/Nathan irked the hell out of me. After he saw his visions in the mirrors, he should've snapped back to the Sylar we all know and love right there. He could've started manipulating the troop, making them think he wasn't better. So now I'm done. I'll follow Quinto to Star Trek now. Sylar and Hiro were my two favorite characters in Heroes, and they messed them up royally in the last two seasons.

didnt you just say sylar jumped into peter from matt... and is hanging around nathan for control of his body... but you dont realize he doesn't have matts powers available any more to move between bodies... do you need anybody to explain it to you? and that would explain why sylar/peter wouldn't care if the healing power wasn't around any more to heal hero...

but you dont realize he doesn't have matts powers available any more to move between bodies...

But Sylar has Matt's powers regardless of where he is, because collecting powers is what Sylar does, so if Matt's powers are all that it takes to push him in somewhere, he could jump right into Nathan. I think he's made an incorrect assumption that there's no need for a "pull" factor - Peter got Matt's powers briefly, and that was the "pull" that let Sylar in. But there's no "pull" to Nathan - yet. Nathan does have the seeing power, so he can obtain Matt's "pull" power and bingo, Sylar's back in his old bod!

Of course all this "logic" is beside the point. The writers will do whatever fits the story and to hell with logic.

GOD DAMN IT, HIRO!!!

You had to save Mohinder, didn't you?

Typical Heroes. Mohinder's death is reversed but not before he causes yet another crisis for the rest of the world. Kneppar's work has been good this season but he was awful in those flashbacks. Nice scene between Peter and Not Nathan at the end though.

I immediately thought of the Jar Jar Binks' vote that destroyed the Republic. They should make a tv show with Wesley, Jar Jar Binks, and Mohindar.

I'd put Hiro in before Mohinder. He and Jar Jar would get along famously, and Wesley could finally be the cool guy in the group, relatively speaking.

Man... I am so nearly done with this show.

I could only stomach the last two episodes by skipping past most of the scenes. Ugh.

When Pasdar leaves the show (which I assume is real soon now) I will remove my season pass for this abomination. Good riddance.

Hey, I'm still wanting Pasdar to come to my show. He'd make an outstanding demon tormenting my favorite brothers and their guardian fallen angel. Screw Nathan and the "you look and sound like my brother so it doesn't matter" bit (and I thought the Sim story on ENT was messed up that they could accept him). If Sam or Dean were replaced (which they'd never do) it would matter to the other one. Big time.
