After the ending, I came on here and voted Excellent, but that might have been too rash. I did enjoy it though because it seemed like things are coming together to the finale but I can see what everyone was saying. I was scratching my head during the airplane scene which was a total moment on this series. Looking forward to the flashback episode. It might make the picture a lot clearer than it is. Heroes has done too much muddling this season and having a twist for twists sake isn't good.

I still can't get over the stupidity of bringing a short circuiting Elle onto an airplane. I let a lot of stupid things pass on this show, but good God, that was horrible.

Daphne/Matt--I didn't mind them being set up as a couple in the future, because anything can happen in four years...but I don't care much for the way it's playing out. "I know you've never met me, but I love you because we're married in the future!" And people hated West for his stalkerish behavior...?

I really thought Maya would get a nasty end. But no, she gets cured & just goes back home. Huh.

Either way, she's (hopefully) gone. So let's just call it a win and move on.

Hopefully she'll go back to her native country and get the death penalty for killing all those people....

I HATE that we have to wait two weeks until the next new ep. Looks like it's going to be a flashback. Stupid election. We all know Obama is going to take it.

The election is on Tuesday. NBC is running the SNL Presidential Bash on Monday night...a great chance to catch some classic political comedy that only comes once every four years!

And how stupid is Mohinder...It's like he didn't understand that maybe sticking someone to a wall is a wee bit of a deal breaker in a relationship.

If only somebody had told me that before it came to divorce....

A day later; the systematic removal of all the season two characters says it all about what is though of it behind the scenes.

As far as Hiro. I'm interested in seeing if they continue the line that he needs to be taught that using his power is not bad. It's using his power in a thoughtless manner that is that is the problem. Although he should have more sense than this after season two's events, but like I've said above I see the writers moving to strike it from the shows perspective.

All in all, it has me watching and looking forward to what's next.

I was remembering a comment somebody made in a past episode thread about how it seems like they are scared to lose the main actors. Seeing as how they kept Larter but gave her a new character/powers. Anyone else think that before this volume or the next volume is over they will do something similar to some of the other main popular characters? they are already halfway doing this with Peter & Sylar(Pete may end up with new powers/Sy may end up with new personality.) I could see Claire getting a temporary cure then later a new power(one that's less passive). Maybe they'll do someting to Hiro too. Like they are aware that the characters are stale but they don't want to get rid of the main cast b/c they are too associated with the show's successful first season. Maybe Tracy is like a test...

Near the end of season 2 Monica went to get back something stolen from Micah. Gets caught by a gang. Niki dies saving her. That's pretty much it. There really wasn't much to resolve.

The orginal plan was for Monica to be developed as the superhero in her neighborhood since Knox was supposed to go back to New Orleans to be a villain there (I guess Monica's baddie) but the writers had to change that because of the writers strike. Instead Knox now works for Arthur Petrelli.

I used to work in a comic shop. Resale is shit. The mantra for mile high comics is "25 cents a pound, no, shut up, I don't care, 25 cents a pound or fuck off."

No mylar bags, no backing boards, recent print, living in a school bag?

Arthur snapping Maury' neck! Now we know where Gabe gets his charming personality from.

Matt is a BIG DAMN HERO! Love it, he needs to take the gloves off more often. But I think he was taking chivalry a bit far in seemingly be willing to let Daphne kill him. Probably he would have just used an illusion to fool her but was hoping it wouldn't be necessary.

Maya exits the series, and there was much rejoicing. Hopefully this ends the Idiot Phase of Mohinder's storyline, tho being willing to use Peter as a guinea pig still seems pretty out of character.

Peter sets new world's records for gullibility by rushing back to rescue his suddenly beloved brother who only managed kill him two or three times so far, how about another shot at it, Gabe? Kinda nice of him to inflict only minor injuries this time.

Arthur's story about Angela's attempted infantcide was intriguing but I'm sure there's more to the story than that. And Gabe's going to be a handful to try to control, that's for sure. Arthur definitely cannot depend on his loyalty.

They even found something in the story for Claire to do, namely babysit Elle and then rescue her dumb uncle (again). But gee, with the whole uncontrollable electrical discharge thing, you would have thought the girls would take the bus or something?

Nathan introduces former flame to cool present girlfriend. Fire, meet Ice. Interesting possibilities for a three-way?

So Peter didn't think it was worth mentioning the new brother to Nathan before he goes running off to save the day? I know there was a lot to deal with just then, but that seems like it should have been a priority. (It also raises the issue of whether Nathan remembers he used to have another baby brother and what the parents said happened to the kid.)

I am really starting to like Sylar as the 'good' guy.

He's not really the good guy - he's the guy whose life used to make no sense and suddenly his life is making all kinds of sense. Finding out the truth about his parentage is completely wish fulfillment for Gabriel the Nonentity. He doesn't need to be Sylar anymore because he isn't angry, frustrated and confused.

That doesn't mean he isn't going to be devious, dangerous and smart. Of all Arthur's sons, Gabriel is the acorn that fell right next to the tree. My only question is how nice Nathan and Peter could be Angela and Arthur's real offspring?

And they do need to remember he's still got issues with the Hunger, even if we can assume Arthur can shrug it off just as he can shrug off Maya's powers. Maybe he can even combine or alter powers to suit himself? That would be a neat trick.

Oh, and anyone else notice how "The Company" which was so bad in season 1 is now pretty much good, so they just made a totally new company to take its place as the "bad" one?

The Company is still ruthless. They locked up Vortex Guy without any trial, even though he did nothing wrong, and ended up driving him to apparent suicide. They're just not as ruthless as Arthur Petrelli...as far as we know...maybe Arthur has good reasons for everything, too?

I'm getting really sick of Hiro this season.

He's been pointless ever since the end of S1. He really should just be killed off permanently. They need to start doing some pruning among major character as well as the minors. They should keep the Petrellis and the Bennets because basically this show is just about them. Plus Matt cuz he's cool and Mo (but smarter please) so the cast won't be blindingly white and it is a good idea to have a scientist in the mix.

Also couldn't Claire just give Peter some blood for him to heal, quicker. Or is he essentually human now and wouldnt be able to handle it.

Wasn't Claire's blood used to heal Noah after he was shot in the face by Mohinder? It worked fine on him, and as far as we know he doesn't have any abilities. So they should have been able to use Claire's blood, provided they had the necessary medical equipment on hand.

They were unlikely to have had the proper medical equipment just lieing around so they could take the blood out of Claire and put it in Peter though, besides, beyond a few scratches he wasnt that hurt anyway, it's not like he was at deaths door.

Though if he was, once he had an infusion of Claire's blood, it wouldn't matter how unhealthy the method of transfusion was, he'd heal from that too.

Apparently, on paper this season wants to keep us guessing through the tangle of double-crosses, hidden agendas, and rapidly shifting alliances. What it has done in practice is create a tangled mess in the center of the story making it increasingly difficult to care about what's going on. And taking valuable time out to clean up the mess from the Season 2, like wrapping up the entire useless Maya storyline, isn't helping either.

What does work for me is the Daphne/Parkman storyline. And it was nice to see Matt use the full extent of his powers again. Although I'm not really certain how Daphne expects to (potentially) double cross a powerful mind reader. But we'll ignore that plot hole when we get to it.

What doesn't work for me at all is anything to do with Gabriel. His transformation from Sylar to devoted Petrelli mamma's boy was rapid, inexplicable, and unconvincing. This makes his possible allegiance switch from Mommy Patrelli to Daddy Patrelli, or even the double cross Gabriel is planning, seem less like a clever plot point and more just adding to the feeling of the character jerking about haphazardly through the story.

What doesn't work for me at all is anything to do with Gabriel. His transformation from Sylar to devoted Petrelli mamma's boy was rapid, inexplicable, and unconvincing.

The clues were all there in S1. The first things we ever learned about Sylar is that 1) he can't control himself (the voice mail message) and 2) he is remorseful enough to cover the walls with insane FORGIVE ME scrawlings.

The first substantial thing Sylar ever said in the show was to rant to Chandra Suresh about how he doesn't believe he's living with the right family. The strong implication is that this disconnect is what is driving him to kill (in conjunction with the hunger of course but it's more than just that).

He latches onto Mohinder during the whole Zane arc and acts weird and clingly, "you don't know how alone I used to feel," how tracking down the metahumans with Mo gives him a sense of purpose, and his fury when Mo "betrays" him.

Then when things get too intense, what does he do but run to Mommy? Virginia is a very inadequate Mommy for him - she doesn't give him the validation he needs and her pathetic-ness makes him feel pathetic by extension - but he still loves her and desperately seeks her approval.

Then he discovers his true mother is everything he wanted. She's powerful, smart and the opposite of pathetic, so now his self-image can fit what he's always wanted and suspected it to be. She provides complete validation for him, even bringing him victims to feed on.

He immediately latches onto Angela in the same clingy way he related to Mohinder and Virginia. Of course he's a Momma's boy as a result - he's grateful but also he is getting everything he needs psychologically by his association with her (and with all the Petrellis, which also explains his oddly nice attitude towards Peter - why Peter is being so nice to the guy who killed him twice is another matter.)

Even in S2 when Sylar could lose the hunger and still be a psycho, in apparent conflict to how he's being characterized now, still fits, if you assume it was his disconnect w/his family history that was the chief problem, and not the hunger at all.

Disconnect minus hunger = he's a psycho. Hunger minus disconnect = he can control himself and he acts much better (tho still with the potential to be a psycho.) Sylar had two big problems, and now that he's found his true family, he's only got the hunger to deal with.

So really looking at his characterization, it's a very complicated picture but one that hangs together surprisingly well. The main problem here is all the intervening time and the fact that the clues are scattered through such a long period of time, so that people forget about them unless like me they are also going back to the DVDs and refreshing their memory.

Also viewers have consistently overestimated the degree to which Sylar was this "cool," self-controlled killer. He's always been a mess and not self-controlled or cool at all. He's just like Peter in being a clingy headcase who can't function unless he can find his place in the world. The difference is that Sylar isn't as emotionally expressive, which is a defense mechanism. He doesn't want to reveal too much for fear of betraying himself (which he does anyway - his psychotic rambling at the hotel in Montana is what clued Mo in.)

In Sylar's case, his "place" needs to be the prince who will inherit the kingdom. Whether that's from King Arthur or Queen Angela is a toss-up. He's not definitely tossing his loyalty into either camp and I suspect want he really wants is to be fought over by the King and Queen. That would be the complete validation of his self-image that has been denied so long and was such a source of frustration for him.

Sylar is a fascinating thing to see, what happens when an angry, frustrated, nutty, villanous character abruptly finds that all his dreams have been fulfilled.
