Here it is: The Enterprise with Wings

General_Custer

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
Scroll down. If this is what they go by I will not go see it. It is canon because it was in Star Trek III The Search for Spock when the refit enterprise was pulling in space dock. It is to the left of the Enterprise. Click on the Picture to look at it. I never noticed this ever. I was focused on the Excelsior. Could this be what they use and are refering too but modified? It Delta wings look like it is from the old Valkyrie Supersonic Bomber that was discontinued in the early 70s

Well if you say so, but to me me it just looks like a part of the space dock wall.

What is the point of this post? Is there anything to suggest that this will be the new NCC-1701 design?

This is like me posting a picture of a frying pan and saying I won't go to the movie if that's what the E looks like??!?

It's in reference to the previous post.

In that picture of the Enterprise in space dock on the OP's link, in the upper left quadrant, it does look like the back half of McQuarrie's Enterprise concept is visible in the far background. Kinda neat. Probably an inside thing since no one would make it out other than on a screen shot.

Paramount is laughing their asses off. Every comment, every leak is staged to create maximum hype. You guys are playing right into it. This nonsense about "Enterprise with wings" is icing on the cake.

It's gonna be a fun year :)

Do you mean the Ralph McQuarrie design?

'Cause I've always liked that.
Yes thats it. The reason nobody noticed cause all eyes were on the enterprise and the exelsior as Kirk started dialogue about it. Every design has to have a reference and since the rumor it has wings and can land, this ship is flat enough to land.

Listen, assuming we're getting a winged, landing ship - and I have severe doubts about that - it probably won't be McQuarrie's design. It'll be John Eaves' design. Plain and simple (and IMHO unlikely).

Do we have to put up with crap like this right up until the movie is released? Wings my arse.

I suspect this is only the tip of the iceberg.
Really, after reading Oci's interview at Trekmovie.com and his remarks concerning the design of the film I've been reassured all is well.

I suspect that the "Wings" bit came from some PPC ad executive having her monthly "visitor." ;)

What's really funny about all this is that between this and several other threads, we have completely skipped the "They had better not..." phase and jumped right into "Oh, I can't believe they did that!" And we still know nothing!

Ah, only 13 months to go

It's going to be a long, long 13 months.

Didn't Vektor, at one point while working on his NX-01 concepts, produce a ship with small 'wings' on the nacelle struts?

Something like that seems far more likely to me than the resurrection of the McQuarrie Enterprise.

There is a ship like that on ENT - the Intrepid. That ship had tiny wings on the nacelles. For what purpose, I have no idea.

Vektor's Grandeur over in Trek Art has little wings on the pylons that look good. I believe they are weapon platforms.
