Help! My Troi action figure packaging is full of typos!

Hey Everyone,

I've had this figure since the early 90s, and I never thought much about the errors on the back. It lists Troi as "half belazoid" (with an 'L'), from "Belazed", and with "Belazoid abilities". Now that I've started looking into it, I can't find any records of anyone else finding these errors. Does anyone here know about this? Was there a bad batch of Trois and I just happened to get one?

I'd be happy to post a picture of the package if I could figure out how upload it here.

Cheers,
Dan

Toy packaging is often rife with spelling errors, particularly toys manufactured in China where the English is not writed too good.

You may want to check out packaging for similar dolls on eBay. Given I am sure a lot of collectors are looking for the "new in the box" version, I'd be surprised if some of the sellers didn't take up-close photographs of the packaging. If not, you can always ask one of the sellers to do so for you. They're generally a pretty obliging bunch.

Given that you have used the '@' sign twice in place of an 'A' when entering your username, you appear to be just as guilty as the people responsible for the packaging of which you speak.

If you dislike what I say then don't read my posts. It really is that simple.

Imaginative.

I used to have a mixed Voyager figure/package. I think it was a Neelix figure in Tuvok packaging. I'd have to dig it out of storage to confirm.

I'm assuming Asian bootleg.

There's plenty of typos that just happen. All mine were bought off the rack at retail stores, very unlikely that a few bootlegs were slipped in. Mistakes can happen on legitimate packaging like the Best Buy Kill Bill slipcover.

Careful they haven't... merged!

LOL . Pretty sure my figure was made before that episode, but in retrospect I always thought it kinda funny that way.

So, someone registers here in order to make a single post about a piece of merchandise that they own, alleging in a very "naive" manner that there's something unusual about the packaging - the sort of error that might possibly enhance the value of the merchandise, as LitmusDragon correctly suggests?

Hmm.

Hmm.

We can all read between the lines and make an educated guess as to the OP's motives; I know I did on first seeing this thread when it was originally posted... Other posters have also previously communicated a similar concern via the Notify Mod feature; thank you to them too.

However, as he hasn't explicitly tried to sell the figure here, the thread remains a legitimate topic, despite our shared suspicions. Obviously, any overt attempt to sell the figure through the BBS either by posting links to eBay auctions, or outright offering it up for sale, would result in a thread closure, deletion of any such sales links, and a warning/ban for the OP, as that would be against the forum's policy.

Hope that clarifies the situation.
