Help me with costume ideas for a convention

Trying to come up with a new costume idea. I want to do something that is not typical (Starfleet uniform, Klingon warrior, Borg, etc...)

My first thought is to do a Breen suit and helmet with a voice modulator that makes the crazy Breen dialect sound. This would be quite challenging, but I think I'd be the only person in the world with a complete Breen costume...or definitely one of the very few.

I like the Breen idea because it relies on complex materials and techniques...but not on makeup, which is my week point.

Any other ideas?


Was also thinking of non-Trek stuff like Londo Malari from Babylon 5, Peacekeeper Commando from Farscape, or a Kzinti or Kilrathi (from Larry Niven's Known Space novels/Wing Commander games respectively, don't know how I'd pull either of these off though)

From some personal experiences, when it come to costumes (conventions or otherwise) you need to consider both comfort and the ability to socialize.

You might want to avoid masks that make it difficult to have conversations and that restrict your vision, in both cases you're going to have to remove it at least some of the time, plus they can get hot.

For a general sci-fi convention, Ambassador Londo Malari would be great, the hair is distinctive enough that most people will know who you're portraying, and with a little money the costume itself shouldn't be to hard.

Haha. You don't get around much. You also would get called "Princess Leia as Boussh" a lot.
