Help me, Rick Sternbach, you're my only hope!

I am very sorry for the Star Wars plug, but it was most appropriate. I am trying to organize enough info to build a 1:350 scale Enterprise-C. I have a bunch of references, but I lack the accurate blue-prints. I was hoping I could cast a line out and maybe Rick Sternbach might actually contact me. It is hoping for a lot, but I would love to have the accurate prints, so I can do this vessel justice... at 1:350 scale, if something is off, it is gonna be noticeable. Thanks for looking, and I hope to hear from you!:)
 
The Galaxy Class blueprints have huge sheets with the exterior schematics on them. Can you find them on eBay or something?

I haven't read that yet, but it would only help me if it also had the blue-prints for the C. The galaxy-class is the D... I dig the author, though. I'll have to hit my local B&N and check it out. Sternbach designed the Enterprise - C. Probert designed the Ambassador class. There's a distinct difference there. Sternbach's design was the version used for Yesterday's Enterprise and subsequently the model was re-used in DS9. Probert's version was never used except as the inaccurate gold display case model we see in TNG. Tobias Richter, working with Probert, did complete a full up CGI version of the Ambassador class as seen here.

Wow I never realized just how different the two designs were!

Well, IIRC, Probert's design came first (hence the wall design int he Ob.Lounge) but when it came time to build the model for the episode it was deemed easier/cheaper to build a more simplified version. We could probably interpret the design in the Ob-Lounge as a stylized take on the ship rather than a true representation.

It won't happen, but it'd be great if the BD version of YE restored the original Probert design for the Ent-C/Ambassador.

I don't think my post denies any of that. Though I don't recall the reason they went with Rick's new design instead of Probert's when building the 4 footer for YE.
 
Like I said, I think they went with Sternbach's design simply because it was easier and cheaper to build for a one-off model for one episode. (Unless, my earlier saying of that told you about it and this is just being needlessly redundant in which case, disregard.)

That's certainly the reason I;ve heard. Probert's design had too many compound curves which are difficult to build. Sternbach's Ambassador was much easier to build.

The orthos that I have are only partially detailed and aren't leaving their storage tubes for now, sorry. Greg Jein's studio model of the ship turned out somewhat different from the drawings, so the real arbiter of proportions and details is the studio model, and the drawings would actually lead you astray. The AMT/Ertl kit is probably the closest thing you'll find to a properly proportioned and detailed model, though some of the lines are a little bit off in a few places.

when I logged on and saw that YOU had posted on my thread, I was like :cardie: Thank-you very much for responding. I am honored, truly. I have always considered the artists and model-makers the true stars of any story. And you have generously answered my question, so thank-you! So, I have gotten those drawings from an on-line database, and I will use them to build her with, then use as many references I can find to detail her. Thank-you so very much.
