Help me identify an episode plz

Hi all, first time posting here. I watched TOS on BBC in the 70's and have always loved sci-fi. I have a notoriously bad memory though, and I referenced something in a Trek plot recently but cannot seem to find it. I think it was from TOS but I could easily be wrong, my memory of it is so vague.

The basic theme was a planet where there is a sort of hive mind, the humanoid population can access a communal mind, but can only upload their life experience when they die. One of the Trek cast falls for a girl there, and she is excited to learn from him, then he has the awful experience of being thanked by everyone else for providing the knowledge they have all shared, because she has killed herself to upload it.

Can anyone identify it, and post a link to a plot summary or video clip?
I could be completely wrong about this, it might not even be from Star Trek.

There are probably several episodes from the various Trek series that could apply here, depending on what you call a 'hive mind' or 'communal mind' and if you got the other 'facts' right. In TOS, 'The Mark of Gideon' could apply here.

Not entirely sure, as I said my memory of it is vague, though I can clearly picture a couple of scenes, and the plot is very Trekkish. It was not recent and I have not seen Outer Limits, I am in South Africa and don't get a lot of Sci-Fi here.

We can say for a fact the plot you described was not ST:TOS. And since there are maybe 700 spinoff episodes, I wish you luck.

Ok, thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately for me any searches I do on elements of the plot come back with mainly Borg or Mind-Meld references, since they are the dominant telepathy/mind-share themes in Trek.
I guess I will just have to live with this nagging at me, frustrating.
700 - wow.

I can't think of any episode of Trek that involves mind uploading in that manner. While Wikipedia isn't the most reliable source, you might see if something here sounds familiar: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_uploading_in_fiction

But this does vaguely remind me of VOY "Emanations."
These aliens send their dying to an asteroid in a coffin that euthanizes them.

At the very end, they find that there is a mysterious neural energy network around the asteroid, that appears to come from the dying bodies.

It makes me think of the Voyager episode with the planet populated with former Borg drones "Unity". (And the love interest would be of Chakotay's).

Not sure if matches your description exactly, but it's the one I thought of immediately.

To me it sounds like exactly the kind of plot you'd see in the (extremely good) revival series of The Outer Limits. But I couldn't find it as such using the OP's hints as search words.
