Hi, I purchased this picture and was told it was from the Voyager TV Series. Has anyone seen it before on the show? If so, what episode? Thanks for hel

ping me identify it.

No idea what this might be. Are you sure it is from Star Trek Voyager? Perhaps there's a documentary or something called Voyager ...

Well, there was a kid's live action TV show called Voyagers in the 80's. About time travellers. Do you think it might be from that?

It looks like abstract art to me. Good abstract art.

it is probably from an episode early season just hanging in the background not really important.

I bought at auction and on the label said it was from Star Trek Voyager TV Series. I was just curious if anyone had seen it hanging in background on an episode. It is actually very well done and the picture I posted does not do it justice. Thanks for your replies.

Can you say who did the auction? Some folks here (trekbbs in general not just Voyager forum) may be familiar with the venues who auctioned off voyager stuff. There may be mention of them selling off a painting prop online...

As for the label, did it look...professional or was it something anybody on the street could have slapped it on...

Hi Finn, someone from street :( But, I only paid 60.00, so, if it is not authentic, I still have some nice art. The Auction was held at McManus Auctions...Just a small auction house. Thanks for the replies.

I realized something. It looks random and doesn't really look Trek. This would mean even if it was on Voyager, it probably was an extra prop owned by Paramount and used in some of their productions if legit. If so, it wouldnt be labelled st voyager but some kind of warehouse code.

The more we're talking about this, the more my interest is piqued. Does this ... let's call it a work of art just to be on the safe side ... have anything to do with ST VOY?

At the very least, it looks elaborate and complex, the work of a professional.

Looks like a cubist solar system. I like it. Worth the price for a piece of Trek (or the 90's) - if you can pin down its origin for independent verification. Preferably from the artist. Not much Trek-value otherwise, since anyone could simply claim something about anything, and lots of painters are out there copying stuff. Though, the aesthetic looks right.

Some of us will keep our eyes open for it ;) The frame is also unique. Is it painted on glass? I wonder if it was back-illuminated.

Are those the initials A.S., or perhaps A.S.E., I wonder?
Anyone in props matching that?

It would look right at home in Harry Kim's San Francisco apartment in Non Sequitur, it's not there though, I just checked.

I can't remeber seeing it anywhere, at least not in the seasons 1-3 episodes.

Checking episodes featuring decently-appointed domestic interiors....

We know it's not:
  1. Non Sequitor
  2. Real Life
  3. Memorial
  4. Ex Post Facto
  5. Pathfinder
  6. Riddles
  7. Human Error
  8. Inside Man
  9. Lineage
  10. Workforce I, II
  11. Homestead
  12. Endgame

People usually don't make forgeries for 60 bucks.

People copy paintings all the time, and people put fake goods on the internet all the time. Times have changed and selling fake knockoffs online is a heck of a lot more common than some may realize. Not to mention having a piece of art with apparently no actual provenance other than a hang tag. So yeah, I'd be interested in finding on screen confirmation, and even then it may not be enough to establish authenticity.

And there are other questions, such as whether it was stolen. Stolen art typically goes for much cheaper than its actual value - and also has mysterious gaps in its authentication.

And finally - people paint copies of other paintings for free all the time. It's part of the learning process.

Personally, I wouldn't do something this big for sixty dollars. He's lucky to have it for that price.

I really wanna know this episode :-)

I checked randomly some episodes. Did not find it in:

- Ex Post Facto
- Alter Ego
- Favorite son
- Living Witness
- In the flesh
- The Disease
- Juggernaut
- 11:59
- Pathfinder
- Virtuoso
- Nightingale

There are not many episodes left...

You also have to consider the possibly it was on one of the temporary sets built for a an episode, but was never on the screen in the final cut of a given episode...
