Help...can't remember book title/author!

I was telling the daughter toady bout an older SciFi themed book but I can't recall the title correctly or the author.

It's the one about a murder at a SciFi/Fantasy convention and said something about "alien bimbos" in the title. It was such fun, but I've lost it.

Apparently, some Con coordinators used to give it to Con newbies as a sort of "guide" as to what to expect, minus th murder, hopefully.

The guy also wrote one about authors with "...end of the gene pool..." or something like it in the title.

Amazon just sort of goes nuts when I tried it.

Anyone who knows the title/author I'd appreciate it.
